What looked like creepy experience, after crossing narrow bridge to the town and walking in backstreet to find the Vila - turned out to be amazing experience of serenity and hedonism. ||The room in top floor overlooking the valley and monumental yet not disturbing bridge with balcony for late romantic dinners with partner was just wow. ||The main disadvantage - and that is being away from the centre - is its main advantage and you will know what I am talking about when you watch the stars and listen to the river. ||The room was generously large and cosy and clean. But what we enjoyed most was the adjacent cafe and its selection of food. The food was beyond excellent and the dining room with its stuff and decoration was reminding me the old movie 'Casablanca'. ||The place with its setting and friendly yet pretty down to earth owners had some old fashioned mystery where the time stopped and we enjoyed every hour there. ||If you look for full service hotel all inclusive you will be disappointed. However, if you look for place where you can be home and can appreciate good taste you will be satisfied. ||Overall: the stuff is friendly and they know what are they doing, very clean, superb accommodation for given price, not too pricey delicious food, amazing location, dog friendly, very good value for price. ||It was truly beautiful place to stay and we will be looking...
Read moreI stayed for two nights while on business nearby. Was with 2 colleagues. We all agreed that the accommodations, breakfast, and staff were excellent (although one found the bed too hard for him but that is just personal choice). The rooms are large by American standards and huge for Europe. My room (4) had a small balcony and overlooked the river. Although the weather was too cold to enjoy the balcony, it would be nice in pleasant weather. ||The owners were pleasant, helpful and very accommodating. When we asked for breakfast at 0645 because of early meetings, they immediately agreed. The selection was large and plentiful and they also offered snacks to go. ||There is no lift in the house, which was not a problem for me but just to be aware. It is not on the center square but is only a short (5-10 minute) walk away. ||I hope to return again to...
Read moreThis charming art-deco hotel/restaurant is not on Bechyně's main drag, so it's easy to miss. Several years ago participants in our summer music school started staying there. They love it and it is always full now during the two ten-day courses. My wife and I have eaten there often, though we've not stayed there yet as guests. ||It is easily the best restaurant in hundreds of kilometres! The host grills amazingly fresh tuna, salmon and/or (local) trout, and there are vast salads, pasta and other options for vegetarians. The owner, chef speaks Czech and Spanish, his wife has succeeded in learning English, and they now always have English-speaking staff serving. Extensive wine...
