First of all, this place is more like a Bed & Breakfast, than it is a hotel. Even they advertise themselves locally as a bed & breakfast. We ended up staying at this "hotel" not out of choice, but by the recommendation of a friend, who could get us a discount here. We were all planning to stay in this area for a week to enjoy the mountains. So we never made the reservations ourselves. This place is located in Velka Upa, which is located just south of Pec Pod Snezkou, a skiing area. After I was told about where we were staying I started checking with online reviews at various sites. I have to say I was a little unsure about this place, but I was willing to give it a chance because some had given it at least decent reviews.||||From first glance, as we drove up to the building I have to say I wasn't at all impressed. The building is in decent shape, but could use sprucing up. A new paint job, and cleaning up around the building would do it some good. Also the greenery around the building could use some attention. The grass is cut, but there are weeds and other shrubs and small trees that are overgrown. This "hotel" does have a parking lot next to the building that is dedicated only its customers, so parking here isn't an issue. When we entered the building you come into a small vestibule, with the restaurant area on your right, stairs in front of you, and the office to your left. There is no official reception at this "hotel", and when you arrive you find that the keys to your room are simply laid out on a table, to your right as you enter. We made our way up to our room via the stairs. This is an older building and these stairs are very steep, and not very deep. Not to mention that the railings on both sides don't go all the way to the top. Use caution! Little children or people with walking difficulties probably shouldn't be going up or down them without help. The hotel overall from the inside was clean and the decor is reminiscent of a hunting lodge, and rather dated, but each to their own.||||When we got to our room it too was clean and furnished with cheap "do-it-yourself" furniture. The sheets on the beds looked old, even though they were clean. There were no fitted sheets for the beds, so when you slept on them you would find yourself sleeping directly on the mattress because the sheets don't stay put. The blankets also had broken zippers, so they too often came out of their covers. Rooms here don't provide fridges, so don't plan on storing any cold drinks for the evening. The bathroom is what I call "standard Czech". Bad tiling, cheap plastic shower stalls, and old basins and toilets. Also, the towels are small and are as soft as sandpaper. No kidding. It appears they were washed, and then left to dry in a blazing sun for ten days. Hint! Bring your own towel.||||The dining area is fine, also in the style of a hunting lodge. Guests are assigned a table for breakfast and dinner. Our stay came with breakfast and dinner. They also serve outside of those times and the food overall is good. The waiter is wonderfully cheerful and humorous, but he is the only one here. ||||This place does allow pets here, but for a small extra price. Unfortunately, we had to leave our Cavalier behind for a day because the attraction we went to didn't allow dogs. Normally our dog just sleeps while we are away, but I guess because of the traffic in the corridor outside our room it encouraged him to jump against the door, thinking that we were outside. Due to the cheap and bad manner in which the doors are built, the result was a large banging every time our dog jumped. Their doors don't close flush to the frame, not to mention that they are paper thin. When we got back the owner was nasty with us about the whole issue. I understand being upset, but even the owner should show some manners and common courtesy to his CUSTOMERS. Throughout our stay he would continue to act arrogant, gruff, and downright inhospitable. During the incident he even barged into the room, without knocking, just at a moment that my teenage daughter was about to get dressed, so he could inspect the door. There was no damage. Others on his staff acted similarly. The cleaning lady was also rude, and the other staff there working on repairing an adjacent room quite liberally shouted profanity during their work for our six year-old to hear. The only decent person there was the bartender/waiter Marion with whom we chatted consistently and cheerfully in the restaurant.||||Also remember, if you see that the furnishings and fixtures are old and outdated, then for sure the infrastructure of the building is as well. We learned that one day when we couldn't turn off the shower in the morning. It happened around 6:30 a.m. and immediately we looked throughout the building to find someone from the staff. We looked everywhere in the building, even going into the kitchen and other places prohibited for customers, and not one person from the staff was there. It took 45 minutes for someone to show up. It would be another hour for someone to finally show up, and it wasn't a plumber. We left for the day not knowing how long it took them to repair the shower.||||It is obvious that this "hotel" caters to an older generation that see Communism as a golden era. Everything done here is done on the cheap, and without concern about whether it will make the customer's stay more enjoyable or not. The staff are rude and nasty for the most part, with the exception of Marion. This place is not suitable for anyone that has a family, has walking difficulties, or expects to be treated with common courtesy and manners. You are better off paying a little more for other places nearby that might treat you better. Also, one last recommendation....don't let a friend make reservations...

Parkování hned u penzionu, pěšky do Pece asi kilometr a půl, zřejmě nedávná rekonstrukce takže koupelna a pokoj vypadaly dobře a tím pozitivní věci nejspíše končí... Postele rozvrzané a proleželé matrace. Peřiny a polštáře staré, péřové a těžké. Nikde žádná recepce a ani zájem nové návštěvníky ubytovat. V hlavní chodbě papír se jménem a u toho klíče od pokoje. Zbytek si člověk musí zjistit sám.. Snídaně večeře WiFi nikde ani zmínka kdy kam a jak. Restaurace otevřená od 16:30. Obsluha zmatená, pokaždé jsme seděli u stejného stolu ve stejném složení a u každého jídla se nás ptali jaký máme pokoj a z jakého objektu (Tetřívek, Jesenka a Policie) jsme. Při odjezdu nevěděli kdo jsme, od kdy tam jsme a jakou máme domluvenou cenu. Tetřívek prostě už nikdy....
