Generally speaking, I love this hotel. It has both soul and character and is equipped with furniture which evokes a folk style. You would recognize pictures of its rooms anywhere, even if there was no legend that the photos were taken particularly in this hotel. The bathrooms are beautiful, modern and with bathtubs, however rather small. I have been three times in this hotel and my main concerns are still the same - food and noise. In summer, when the windows really need to be open because of the heat and your room is on the middle floor observing the hotel Alpska ruze (Spolecensky dum), you can hear people from the street talking. I could actually understand the whole conversations word by word. Also, early in the morning, when carriers deliver their goods, the noise is really unpleasant. Once or twice I could even smell the smoke from some driver's cigarette which was rather unnerving. Moreover, I do not like the food there. The sweets are good, but otherwise I consider the meals quite terrible for a four star hotel. Salads were either oversalted or overpeppered, the porridges and scrambled eggs too thick and once my husband got a fish which was cut into small pieces, but with all the bones in it! It was impossible to get the bones out... Every day I thought how lucky we were that we had only breakfasts and dinners there. Their drink menu is also very unimpressive for such a good hotel. From all those reasons, I do not recommend eating in this hotel.||Staff is nice, helpful and friendly - all of them, although chambermaids could do their work more properly and not all ladies in the spa are as pleasant as they, in my opinion, should be, if you pay for...
Read moreAfter our first stay a few months before, we decided to visit Jurkovicuv Dum again last Spring. We were disappointed right from arrival when we found crumbs of the Spa oplatky all over our beds. Our room was situated above the entrance to the kitchen which meant being awoken every morning at 5.30 by delivery cars and not always very thoughtful people receiving them. Apart from the reception staff (who were just wonderful and so very helpful at all times) no one could, or made the effort to, communicate in English. We were often spoken to in German by the waiting or spa staff which was a bit insulting. The procedures were very good but standards varied from one person to another (always ask for a lady for your massage). We were lucky the pool was not always busy when we used it, the generally popular times are after meals. Half way through our stay we noticed the food quality and quantity deteriorated. After we complained that during a breakfast peak time there were no rolls left, we were told that the guests who came earlier had eaten the allocated amount for the morning. No apology, no replacement, we had to ask and insist. Sadly, that earned us a lot of rude treatment from the waiting staff for the rest of our stay. We never received an answer to our feedback we sent to the hotel's manager either. Shame, so many good elements of the stay but we may not be returning to this hotel. We felt the place is still a few decades behind, in the era when it was generaly accepted that the spa guests would tolerate any such behaviour from the hotel (or any) staff. You are running a business and we are paying customers - move...
Read moreMy husband and I stayed at this place in June 2018. The staff was helpful, food was delicious, we were little disappointed that for a pitcher of room temperature tap water was 150Kc. Our room was fairly comfortable. We were little surprised that there were too separate twin/single beds instead of one king size bed for a couple. There is no AC but fortunately fans are available upon request at the front desk. Bathroom was very nice, cleanliness was good when we got there but daily service was hit and miss depending on who was cleaning it. We noticed that on the days when they did a very poor job they didn't even take the tip we left. Massages and baths were simply heaven. If you are a prude it might not be for you - nudity is often involved but it's Europe...nobody cares and your body is not something the staff hasn't seen before. All over we were satisfied. The best improvement that could be made is air conditioning in the rooms - if we didn't have to keep our window upon we would get much better sleep (it can get noisy outside). Also, I don't remember anyone having conversational level of English which didn't really bother us much because I'm bilingual and I would interpret for my husband...
