Read moreTO MY FELLOW AMERICANS,ESPECIALLY BLACK AMERICANS: My fiancé( now spouse) and I travelled from Eastern Europe to stay at this hotel. We were getting married on the island of Aeroskobinge. It was a beautiful place, but the customer service was HORRIBLE!!! We had been traveling for 2 days with so many things going wrong. The hotel was our last issue. Once we arrived, we had to call the receptionist to check us in. Apparently, she lived down the road and would come back once someone called her. That wasn't an issue. The lady arrives and begins talking about where she lives and how she won't wait around because she lives close. Despite the fact that we called and emailed her about our 1-2 hours beforehand. Fine. Understood. I tell her my name and she explains that I only ordered a 1 bedroom for one person. Not 2. After realizing my mistake, I let out a sigh of frustration. Who wouldn't be upset? It had be a LONG 2 days of HELL. Everything had been going wrong. However, the aggression was never towards her. It was towards myself. I never once blamed, insulted, or disrespected her. This lady internalizes my sigh and tells me not to be mad at her because I messed up my own reservation. Which I responded by saying "it's not about you ma'am. It's just been long day." She responds by saying " Well don't you think I've had a long day?" Why in the HELL would I care about your day I don't care about your day This is your place of business. You're not a customer and you apparently live down the street! You weren't traveling for 2 days to a country you've never visited before. You're home!!!. What's been so hard about your day compared to foreigners traveling? Also, why is this "professional" comparing her personal life to paying customers? One has nothing to do with the other. Who even says that to their customers?! Then my husband starts asking her questions just to clarify the wrong reservation situation. She starts screaming " everyone always tries to negotiate the prices and rules" This is not a negotiation. This is my business." My husband is still learning English, so he wasn't trying to negotiate. He was trying to understand the situation clearly because English is his 3rd language. I told him to just let it go and we'd get another room and we did. I later told her I wasn't frustrated at her, but at the situation. She replies with " oh I know!". If you know, why are you giving us(the customers) attitude and arguing with us?! My husband is Eastern European and I'm a Black American. I got the vibe she was racist. Maybe even homophobic. As much as people don't like Americans nowadays, other host nationals can't stand us Black Americans. I've worked in customer service long enough to know that you always maintain your composure and listen to the client. You don't argue, you work to slove the problem no matter how they feel. Especially when the emotions isn't towards you! If being an owner of the hotel is too hard, then don't DO IT! No one is forcing your hand in this. You never take your own frustrations out on your customers!!! I would never treat my customers the way she treated us. Way to represent your country! If we weren't so low on funds, without internet, and low on time; we would've found another hotel. It makes me sick to my stomach every time I think about it. How we should've just left and found a CLASSIER place. I didn't enjoy my stay and I felt uncomfortable the whole time there. Our goal was met and we did get married. The one good thing about our whole trip. Unfortunately, this moment/experience will always stay w/ us. The owner said her name was Ula. If this isn't truly her name, I'll give her description. About 5'7, glasses, salt and pepper hair, shoulder length, blue eyes, petite, older maybe 50-60. She favors the actress Milla Jovovich. A very nasty individual. I don't recommend this place for any american, especially Black Americans. I've never been so disrespected by an establishment. DO NOT STAY HERE! SHE DOESN'T DESERVE ANY BUSINESS LET ALONE BUSINESS FROM AMERICANS. AMERICANS,...
New owners have done a super job getting this hotel ready for travelers. They have hostel rooms, private rooms with hared bath, and private rooms with insuite bath. We had a room with insuite bath. The room was small but well laid out. Room for two big suitcases. The bed was comfortable and pillows good. I don't like duvets but the one here was OK. The bath was small but shelf space for all of our stuff. ||||The owner treated us like family. She went out of her way to help often. Breakfast was good and she offered to fix an egg if we wanted.||||The building does have stairs to all rooms. We are older and don't like stairs but we did navigate them OK. This is the only negative I have for this hotel.||||It is located on the water front but not a good view. There are ship dry docks between the hotel and the water. But a few steps in either direction gets you to the water front. A short walk up hill and you are on Marstal main street with shops and...
Read moreUlla from Femmasteren really went above and beyond the expected for me and my daughter. My daughter got lost between Aeroskobing and Marstal and I was frantic. Ulla called up all her friends (including the local police) and drove back and forth for about 2 hours searching for her. She was so generous with her time and effort and I will forever be grateful.||Once my daughter was found and all the drama was over, the place was good, too. We stayed in the hostel part, which is clean and comfortable. The rooms are a good size. Location is also excellent. For a good cheap option in Marstal,...
