Hotel klippen prides itself on being the hotel with the best view in Denmark. I couldn't agree more! From the large cafe terrace you get a beautiful overlook of the harbour and town, sea as far as the eye can see and the Bornholm coastline. |Rooms are small and simple, but comfortable with good beds and proper water supply/temperature in your own bathroom. The breakfast buffet is delicious and varied, with several different choices of bread, cheeses and coldcuts, cereal and fruits. They even put out a toaster so you can get your toast warm and how you like it! Those kind of small comforts and thoughtfulness makes this place seem very homey and chilled, and smiling and talkative staff makes it a great place to just hang out and chill. Also they're very dog friendly, even to a young and boisterous puppy that pukes, barks and jumps to greet you, which was a great relief. They did ask me to keep him out of the dining hall though, "because some people are afraid of dogs" which I think is both fair and good judgement towards the other guests :) ||Oh, and the singing consierge! He's just one of those naturally and infectiously happy people that walks around singing to himself, and maybe even a bit to you too ;) ||I felt very at home and well taken care of at Klippen, and though it is a little pricy, I just can't bring myself to...
Read moreI was looking for a week of somewhere and decided that I would go visit Bornholm, since I’m a Dane, I’m 35 years old and I haven’t been yet. I can only say that I guess I’ve only waited till this amazing spot opened.||||We chose the rooms away from the terrace because wanted some peace, and we got that! ||||I have no idea why they don’t market they have the best waffles on the island included in their breakfast (which is included in the price). I usually don’t eat breakfast, because I’m intimate fasting, but this week I wasn’t able to!||||They also have a place called “Hummerhytten / The Lobster Cavern” with a very very very decent take on a lobster hotdog with or without truffles.||||The staff is warm and welcoming! I only got positive words to describe this little magical place.||||After we explored the island, we found Gudhjem to be the best suitable city for us. It’s the only city of the island which is on a cliff, so you basically got a beautiful few from everywhere. There’s a lot of good restaurants and walking distance to Melstedbadehotel which have some amazing fish! ||||I know where to stay...
Read moreThe rooms we got were fantastic for our needs: private entrance out to a big terrace with an uninterrupted view of the Baltic and Christians ø in the distance.||||The location is incredible; below the hotel, there is a nature area along the coast with a path leading down to the harbor and a walk along the cliffs. It is stunning and a fun place for our daughter to play.||||The breakfast was excellent and felt luxurious, although the selection of things to eat was not that large, so maybe it does not fit everyone. On the other hand, I would expect you could ask to get something else the next they if you do not like what you get since they prepared a separate breakfast tray for each group of guests. (Maybe that's different in the height of the season: we visited in the first half of May and there were very few guests.)||||One thing to keep in mind is that the hotel is not staffed except at breakfast, so there is no reception where you can ask questions. (Maybe that's different in the...
