Without much preparations and considerations, I've reserved this hotel a bit outside Helsingoer as several centrally located favourites were either fully booked or too expensive. And - which is the most positive part - for Danish standards the price was really good for this kind of accommodation.||It's a very unique place with its own rhythm and meaning. It's not for everyone certainly but I've enjoyed my stay mostly. Minimal mainly ground-level architecture enriched with truly large and inspiring art collection spread all over its public rooms and hallways. Nice Danish (I guess) furniture with some smart details. Outside areas in a truly organic way linked with indoors.||However, from a very practical perspective, it could be much better. Breakfast menu is a continental one, but it should be adorned with local things and ingredients (no fish, no seafood, no porridges and even the pastry (except fabulous breads of all kind) is quite humble). Rooms are very nice, also minimal, but bed and mattress must be better. People generally friendly and polite, but no person asked or offered something during breakfast. The coffee traditionally Scandinavian.||My biggest impression, however, is probably something which is the most ordinary thing for any Dane - we took a hotel's bike for free and went for a business meeting in Helsingoer, exploring the area and nearby coast while on our way. Truly...
Read moreIn spite of that our room (722) was equipped with a somewhat small and old double bed and wasn't the 30 sq. meters advertised, we had a lovely and relaxing time.||||Especially the reception staff went out of their way to make our stay special. Due to a special occasion we received a bottle of wine (on the house) and to compensate for our slight disappointment about the room we got a bit of a discount. This made our stay and goes to show that a little service goes a long way.||||The location is fabulous although not if you want to be located in walking distance to a city or town. There was no possibility of eating dinner in the facility (that day), but the staff were also here very helpful. They recommended an Italian restaurant within walking distance and just across the road from the beach were we ate an absolutely delicious meal. We're going back, but that's another review.||||One thing I have to mention in these COVID-19 times: There should have been some kind of supervision by the breakfast buffet as many did not use gloves although this was mandatory and gloves were available at the buffet table.||The buffet itself was nothing special. Missed more of the standard bread spread choices.||Missed a fridge, but the staff lent us a cooler bag so we...
Read moreThe Konventum hotel and conference center is beautifully situated surrounded by open fields and woods. There is a magnificent view of the ocean and boats going by. It is located in the outskirts of town so a car is needed. The rooms are good size, nicely furnished, and very comfortable. The breakfast buffet is very good but annoyingly ends at 9 am. The architecture of the buildings is pretty amazing and the place contains one of the largest private collection of art from the 1950s to today. There is easy access to the beach and to walk in the woods. The hotel has bicycles that you can borrow. This is really the best place to stay when visiting the town of Elsinore and the surrounding coastal towns.
I have stayed there twice since my initial review. Both stays were during fall or winter which seems to be off season. One time there was no hot water at all for the shower. The other time I had to let the water run for 20 minutes before it got even Luke warm. Also, the breakfast during off season is not worth it. It was served as a single platter. The bread was stale and the serving contained a lot of processed meat. Though the place is beautiful I will not stay there in off...
