Honest detailed review from American traveler. (Not a paid review!) This friendly, comfortable and quiet resort gained our respect & trust. If your main interest is relaxation you’ll find it here. The amenities are simple & spacious. clean rooms, fully stocked bathrooms, great food & bar service, beautiful setting, peaceful retreat. Yes we would stay again! You can’t beat the service & value! But not during the peak summer months (see my reason why at bottom) We thoroughly enjoyed the large walk-in pool, perfect temperature, cleaned daily! No loud music, no crazy party vibe, no ridiculous shenanigans. This is not a party resort. No swim up bar or forced entertainment. There is plenty of loungers and cabanas free to use. local music playing throughout and daily optional activities including morning yoga, games & evening entertainment. The daytime activities could use a little attention. While fun everything was too short, maybe due to lack of participation from guests, but better ideas from the resort would help. The resort features the main hotel building which is closest to the front entrance, where you find the reception area, check in and cafe ! Wilmur the barista makes delicious coffee! The restaurant buffet is located on ground floor. These rooms are labeled as suites with extra space including couch / sitting area. Some have balconies overlooking the front bar and Buffett entrance, others have view of the side alley and building next door. Very spacious and comfortable, well kept and clean. including stocked mini fridge, hygiene items, robe & slippers. Great touches! Great AC, good shower hot water and pressure. But very thin walls…we could hear everyone around us and kitchen downstairs from our 2nd floor unit. Headphones helped us block out noise after 9pm, we are early to bed people. The buildings that flank both sides of the pool, are the larger 2-3 bedroom units, some of which are personally owned & rented. These are the suites with pool and ocean views. The food is great! Some would say I’m picky…I like to say I enjoy good food. I like to eat! The Buffet offers delicious dishes with variety of local, international & healthy options; meat, fish, pasta, salads, soups, breads, desserts daily! Tons of Fresh local fruit! Morning, noon & night! Looked forward to it every day. Some dishes repeat but overall great variety, we didn’t get bored. Very good flan, I was impressed. Three specialty dining options available. The Japanese restaurant served one of the best salmon dishes I’ve ever had! Lovely dining experience. The Italian was our least favorite experience, tough ravioli and bruschetta appetizer lacked appeal. But overall good table service and attention from start to finish from restaurant and hotel staff. That’s really what makes it a memorable stay, the staff. Special mention to Kimberly, Alcides , Androvar, Henry, Joane and entire buffet restaurant staff. Thanks for making our stay so pleasant. The resort beach area itself is lovely. Semi private, only a handful of vendors walked by the entire week there. Plenty of loungers, shade, cabanas. We loved the convenient beach front bar and nearby snack area. Now for the unexpected and unfortunate part, the beach front. Please be mindful that the resort can’t control what Mother Nature does. But considering this is a beach front property and we all get away to enjoy the beach, it’s important to mention that during peak summer months July-September the beach is covered in seaweed, lots of stinky seaweed. They do their best to clean up daily, full crews with shovels, wheelbarrows and front loaders…but the beach is pretty much unapproachable. The water is murky and you simply can’t enjoy it. There are boats anchored there too which blocks your view, and most of them didn’t move. drive 30 mins to Macao public beach for clear water and swimming. head out on excursions to explore Saona island and other southern points like La Romana which face the Caribbean Sea, for the clearest, warmest, unforgettable Caribbean water colors you want to see!

This property is stunning! As several other reviews stated, the area around the resort does seem a little concerning for travelers but we had no issues feeling uncomfortable at the resort itself. This resort did a fantastic job keeping up with guests leaving and returning to the resort which was also comforting. Upon check-in, we were offered an upgrade which we accepted. We were also assigned a front desk concierge at check in that we could message throughout our stay with questions. (That was hit or miss because we did message a couple of times with no response given back) The hot tub on the private deck from our upgraded room suite did not work which we were notified of when we were brought up to the room. It was not a big deal for us since we were not planning on using it anyways due to wanting to spend time at the pool and beach instead. The area on the beach is filled with different companies with agents trying to sell you excursions. It would have been nice to be able to relax without being interrupted every 15 minutes. The rooms were very clean. The housekeeping service came daily to tidy up. They did a good job cleaning, but what they replenished wasn’t consistent whether it be not refilling the mini fridge, or no extra toilet paper, or no fresh wash clothes . Not a huge deal as you could always walk down to the front desk to request something if needed, but just something to be noted. We were unable to call the front desk with requests as our phone was not even connected or able to be connected to the jack on the wall. The water also stopped working in our room on the last day, which we notified the front desk about when we walked down for breakfast. They were able to get the issue resolved reasonably quickly, but unfortunately it was already time for us to leave for the airport so we were unable to shower that day. As far as the restaurants go, we were able to try out the Japanese and International food nights. The Japanese food was pretty good, but we were not fans of the International food night. The service was also lacking that night as we seemed to have been forgotten about and waited almost 40mins for the dessert to come out. The buffet always had good options so we didn’t mind eating there for meals. The buffet had core options that were there almost every night but some of the options did rotate around to provide variety. My partner LOVED the chicken at every meal at the buffet. Room service was also amazing. They were fast and it was the best cheese pizza I had at the resort. The food at Koral was average but a good option if hungry outside of the buffet hours and you want to be out near the water. We did miss not having any evening entertainment. The website for the resort states there is entertainment, but we didn’t see it any night we were there. We messaged our concierge to inquire about if there any activities or entertainment and were never given a response. Not sure if that was intentional since the website is misleading regarding that. Our nightly routine became going to the beach bar at night. It was relaxing with good music playing. The bartender down there was awesome and remembered our drink order everytime he saw us. Some guests tried to create their own evening entertainment by having little dance parties which was fun to watch. For during the day, we decided to try out their spa on a day that we had no excursions booked and had a great experience there. We also booked a couple of excursions through Manuel who sits in the front lobby. We highly recommend the La Hacienda tour. It was a plethora of activities wrapped up into one location and with a photographer on site to capture the memories. It also included transfer to and from the site back to the resort. We also did a tour of Santa Domingo that was good for site seeing in the city and to provide a different view of the DR outside of the resort area. Overall, we enjoyed our stay at this small low-key resort.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ An Unforgettable Stay at BAKOUR Punta Cana Suites! From the moment we arrived at BAKOUR Punta Cana Suites, we were greeted with warmth and genuine smiles that set the tone for an unforgettable vacation. The hotel itself is beautiful—clean, modern, and wonderfully relaxing—but it was the staff who truly made this trip special. A heartfelt thank you to Alcedize, whose kindness and attention to detail made us feel right at home. Julio ME was incredibly helpful and always ready with a smile, making every interaction a pleasure. Jazmin brought such an infectious energy—her warmth and friendliness brightened our days. Joan was always attentive and went above and beyond to ensure we had everything we needed, and Henry was an absolute star, always patient and eager to assist. We can’t forget Lebron, who made us feel like VIPs every time we crossed paths, and Jorge, who was quick to offer help and a friendly chat. Even the little details, like the coffee extract they served, stood out as a thoughtful touch that added to the experience. It’s rare to find a team so dedicated to making guests feel special, but this group truly went above and beyond. We left with amazing memories and a desire to return as soon as possible. If you’re looking for a resort that not only offers beautiful surroundings but also a staff that treats you like family, BAKOUR Punta Cana Suites is the place to be. —Tom & Deylin

Beautiful, very well kept, open space setting with lots of walking and lounging space. From the moment we arrived we were greeted by Willy from reception who paitiently set up our stay. A gentleman named Juan Carlos from guest services brought us a welcome beverage and was attentive to our needs for the entire stay. We felt safe, guided, and supported the whole time. Juan Carlos provided an activities itinerary every day, which was helpful.

Our room was a modern, spacious, double suite. The beds were super comfortable. The resort view from our balcony was stunning. Huge balcony, by the way. It would've been nice to have a working microwave to make tea at night, but that didn't take away from our experience.

The food at the daily buffet was tasty with a huge array of options for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their coffee and hot chocolate was amazing. The cultural dishes and desserts will have your eyes rolling back with pleasure if you're a foodie. All the hosts and hostesses at the buffet were incredibly inviting and polite.

The walk to the beach was enjoyable, as there is a massive pool that stretches along almost the entire way to the beach! Unfortunately, some guests were selfish in hogging the cots to themselves all day by placing their belongings and stepping away for hours. So you have to catch one early in the morning.

We had fun participating in daily events and games with Jonathan. He remembered all of our names and we enjoyed our interactions with him. Jonathan was very encouraging, especially during his dance lessons.

We had great time every evening practicing our dance moves with Jonathan right by our side on the dance floor. DJ Noruega provided the music every night and he kept the place lively. He was very friendly, took our music requests, and we had a blast! There's a separate bar near the beach and dance floor. That bartender in the evening can put on quite the show with flipping bottles. He's fun to watch.

The beds, cots, couches along the beach was like the icing on the cake for me. We spent most of our time outside enjoying the relaxing atmosphere with lovely beach views.

All in all, it was the workers who really made me feel at home during my entire stay. For example, Willy who cleans the pool was very pleasant and welcoming, taking a quick pause to wave and greet. Willy helped me to start my day with a smile every morning.

I would definitely go back and highly...
