The Resort is amazing. The area is beautiful, and if you play golf (very expensive) you can see the most amazing view as at least 9 of the holes run along the ocean. I visited with my wife and my son and his wife and my 8 year old grandson. Beautiful, Beautiful, Beautiful. The 1 bedroom villas were very comfortable and had wonderful outdoor space with a pool and sitting area. The golf was amazing (did I mention expensive) and Nelson, our caddie, made the challenging course very manageable. An international clientele, beach with sand like powder, friendly waves that kids can manage, and beach chairs a plenty. The look is friendly, with amazing thatched roofed buildings that make you feel you are in Caribbean paradise. We had a great time. NOW - the best. Concierge: Alberto - the joy of having all of your needs, problems, what should I do? moments taken care of. Golf:The course was in great shape, challenging holes, hard to stick greens but generous fairways - no trees. Most of all fantastic views. A good caddy is essential for navigating the course. Nelson, our caddy was our guy. He told us where to hit, how to play the wind, and quickly keyed into our abilities (or inabilities) for club selection. The best for last: Massage Therapist: I have issues with my lower back and lately my shoulders and upper back. Yes, I am older. I get massages about once every 4-6 weeks and some are good others not so much. Elisa was exceptional. She worked my shoulders, neck and upper back, and my lower back with deep massage that was unique in my experience. Her stretch of my quads, fairly intense, was surprisingly effective, and I stretch a lot. She is not going to make a crippled person walk or a blind man see but she gave the best massage I have had in a long time. My backache is chronic. I told my family afterwards that I felt buoyant, like I could float. Great place. ...
Read moreWe booked here for 2 nights prior to flying home to British Columbia. Clean rooms, good service, nice area. The bed is very soft and comfy, good wifi and tv. Couch and large closet. In this price point it's common to have hot water late afternoon/evening. It's been cloudy and raining here. No hot water not a big deal. I can stand in the shower and remove beach sand and wash my hair. It's not that cold As for the area. I've heard people question the safety I can say the Domincans are very friendly and helpful. I feel safe here. Having said that the usual precaution as with anywhere at night. I think those questioning safety aren't well traveled or used to being with people who don't look like them :) Up the street is a lovely restaurant. He's been a chef since the 80's. Very good spice in his dishes as well as veggies . Highly recommended. Always travel with a few sets of earplugs. There are street sounds, barking dogs and crowing roosters...
Read moreGreat little hostal place. I was fortunate to find this place that our taxi guy recommended after going to the Dubai hotel that was very schetchy. Our flight was cancelled and didnt have a close place to stay and hotels were expensive for last min booking. We got there and with a family of 4 we opted for the double bed with AC. Beware: some rooms only offer AC, fan, or no fan; depending on price and availability. Nethless to say, our room was very clean. The batroom was also clean and service great. Dont expect to be a Hilton or Marriot. The typical Mangu breakfast was delicious (not included, but cheap). Long story short, the hotel, for the area is one of the best ones unless u have a resort, but for when the flight gets cancelled, then its a great cheap choice. Only 12 min away from the airport and you can either find arrangements or get an Uber...
