Hotel River View — Hotel in La Romana

This hotel is not safe, locks broken, I called the manager about it, she sended a guy to check the locks and he did not do anything about it, he said the lock was ok. Cabinets in the room broken, missing pieces and did not close. Dirty bed sheets, I asked the cleaning lady to change the bed sheets, she said they only change the sheets when the customers ask for it and have to be autorize by the manager. I spended 2 nights, they never change the sheets. For breakfast, had to wait 15 minutes when they bring it to the table, it was cold like from the frige. (1 egg, mashed potato, 3 pieces of dominican salami, a cup of coffe) I suposed to stay 14 days, but with those inconviniences, I could not stay 1 more night. I URGE ALL ECO minded people not to shop at Jumbo Supermarkets! Jumbo no longer allows people to bring in their own permanent bags to pack their groceries in to prevent the horrible pollution of billions of throwaway plastic bags that also kill birds, fish and other wildlife! They actually took my bags away from me at the door. This is amazing to me and when I nicely asked them why they would do this, they just told me that it's just they way it is, I could use plastic or I could shop elsewhere! Now I will shop elsewhere! I have also had problems with Jumbo refusing to take back food that was spoiled far before the expiration date on the product. We stayed in La Romana for a week long missions trip in June 2016. The staff did not speak any English but were very eager to service and help in any capacity. The hotel rooms were not the best, but they served their purpose for us. We had a/c, clean rooms, and working water (not all rooms had "hot" water). It is a well located hotel. They served breakfast every morning and it was quite delicious. Many new things to try. Very good people there, even with the language barrier. Would absolutely go back.
