Hotel was recommended by local family members as we were attending a family reunion in Ambato.|We were a large group so received a good rate for interconnected rooms for each family (One Room had a Queen size bed and the other two Standard size beds). The rooms were very clean and each came with its own bathroom that had a standing shower. City view rooms had breathtaking views of the mountains surrounding the city, a nice way to start or end your day.||Pros: The Breakfast offered in the Hotel Restaurant (Cafe Ambato) is one of the best Breakfast varieties I’ve seen in my travels in South America. The food varieties offered is fresh, healthy and delicious. They had fresh tropical fruits, cheeses, yoghurts, 3 or more fruit juices, eggs and local fare. Delicious!|Helpful and Always available staff. |City and area were very safe and had no issues walking around at night especially to visit some of the restaurants in the downtown area.|Hotel has a private parking lot if you’re renting a car.||Cons: Stay away from the rooms facing the street area and front of hotel especially on weekends. Few bars in area and it can get loud and annoying at night. The TV had only Spanish/Ecuadorian Channels and WiFi signal was acceptable in the rooms but more reliable and faster...
Read moreWe booked online based on a friends recommendation. We arrived early evening after a long drive. They showed us our small room and it did not have any windows. And no other form of ventilation. We requested a room with a window and they questioned why we did not know this was not our booking. The pictures do not show it. Then they showed a room with one queen and a child’s bed. Two adults this is not going to work. They refused to refund our money for us to go elsewhere. Then they showed a “suite”, which was a small dark room attached to a bedroom with a king-sized bed. We requested a fan and agreed to share because we were not willing to forfeit our money. That night my daughter saw ants crawling up on the couch by our luggage. Since it was over the kitchen the floor was hot. The bathroom vanity needed refinishing, the soap dish was on the floor, and the tile in the corner was cracked and moldy. More ants crawled in on Saturday into our luggage and my daughter found one on her jacket after we left. They are hard to see because of the poor lighting. The worst was she came back after midnight and was locked out. Thank goodness the driver waited with her. The neighborhood is shut down at night and isolated ! Would...
Read moreWe got the suite and it was great. Very spacious and have their own living room. The only downside to the room was that some molding was falling, the room could be cleaner like the corners and stuff, but housekeeping really tries hard and very nice. The jacuzzi didn’t work, and no hot water just warm. The room service was great, but the food was pretty salty. The breakfast buffets downstairs from 7-10am is good with plenty of food. The room had an amazing view of the city!
The only downside to the service is the night front desk guy, because he told me that he will charge me a “fee” because I had some friends coming up to hang out with me for more than an hour. He said if they stay longer than an hour then he will charge this fee.
Even with this random fee, I would still come back here. The location is great because it is in the middle of everything and it is in a safe part of town...
