Oro Verde Hotel Cuenca — Hotel in Cuenca

I stayed here on business during my first ever trip to Ecuador. The hotel was clean and all of the staff was extremely friendly and competent. The breakfast buffet (temporarily moved to a conference room as the restaurant was undergoing renovations) was excellent, and the dinners and lunches there were well above average. They accommodated a VERY early check in time for me, and always greeted me cordially.

The room was clean, except for the newly installed flooring (with radiant heat below). When I arrived, the floor looked like it was the last to be washed with same cleaning water and it was slightly sticky. My socks were filthy by the end of the day. The baseboards that had been removed to replace the flooring were broken and hastily re-installed. The job looked like it was still in progress. My glass shower door also did not seal properly so the bathroom floor would have puddles on it every morning. I also noticed that there was no artwork on any wall in the room, which I found odd.

However, the bed was comfortable, and the view out my window was of a park and a river. Room service was relatively quick and polite.

Overall, I would highly recommend this hotel to those traveling in Cuenca. there are some things nearby that you can do that are accessible by foot, and if this is not your cup of tea, the front desk will gladly call you a taxi and you can be in the center of...

We have been on numerous tours with this company. This is the first time I am giving a bad review to one of the hotels. Drive up and first impressions are great. And breakfast is excellent. However numerous issues in the room. My wife used the hair dryer in the bathroom the first night and flames shot out of the electrical outlet. The surge protector shut it down. Then we noticed several outlets in the room were not very secure. The maintenance man came up quickly and replaced the outlet in the bathroom but had no more for the room. The shower floor is dangerously slick. Only one hook to hang a bath town or piece of clothing in the bathroom. Very odd water attachment location in the bathroom. See picture. Some trim peeling off the wall. The facet in the bathroom sprays water if turned up too much. On top of all of this they leave all the doors to the outside open in the lobby area. It was 50 degrees outside this morning so the lobby felt like lows 60’s. Everyone walks around in coats even...

They have not released my deposit and its been OVER A MONTH since I checked out. I have emailed the CFO and the Manager about this matter as nobody else has been able to help me.

UPDATE 9.30.24 This is an update to my review above. This was a complete misunderstanding between me and the rep. Right after I reached out to the executives they immediately responded and said they will look into this matter. It took a few more weeks, however, over a conversation with the CFO, while he was about to refund $200, we noticed that I was charged the correct amount and I was confused with what the initial rep said via text. I thank Bayron Vallejo & Cristian Serrano for their patience with me and explaining everything. I take responsibility for perhaps not fully understanding the situation, which is why I am overturning my first review. I appreciate their attention and excellent customer service.
