Jia Ji is the best Chinese restaurant in Cuenca. As someone who has traveled and eaten in all provinces of China, I can say that Jia Ji is the most authentic Chinese food, and the most delicious in Cuenca. It provides Chinese food in its proper form, not bowing to western or Ecuadorian taste, and that is its best form. The menu includes iconic dishes from Central China regeion, Northern China, Sichuan, and some Cantonese, all done very well. Everything is super fresh, handmade, and done just right. And it's worth mentioning that the food is not overly salty, like a lot of the local food. Such fine cuisine will cost you a leg and an arm in America, but Jia Ji is not even pricy in Cuenca. I don't understand this but they sure get my business!

A very pleasant and low-key Chinese restaurant tucked in Cuenca's west side quiet residential area across the street from the hotel where I stayed for 2 nights. The Chinese female owner was warm and polite. The food was very tasty with big quantity for one person. I never expected to find a Chinese restaurant in this part of Ecuador let alone own and run by a Chinese family. They also own a big house up the same street for a few steps which they rent out for wedding, birthday parties and etc. The house look very nice and well kept. (See the red lantern hanging from the ceiling of the upper floor).

The food is absolutely delicious. Authentic, incredibly fresh, vegetables are crisp, and flavors pop.

Recommend starting with the chicken dumplings and drizzling them with the house made hot pepper oil. These are homemade/handmade, soft, juicy, large, and bursting in accent; lightly seared on the bottom for a crispy texture that rounds out the character - delectable. The spring rolls were robust, substantial, and super crispy. We also experienced the vegetable noodles which profiled crunchy vegetables accented with fresh ginger (luscious). The chicken glass/rice noodles were equally succulent with tasty morsels of breast. Really blown away. Run by Jin and his charming family, made with soul, and simply phenomenal.

Great, subtle flavors, excellent portions and the service will have us coming here again and again. When you consider their pricing it is the best over all Chinese restaurant in town. We love Chinese food and have gone to all the restaurants in Cuenca, this is the best we've ever visited.

What we like best is that the food is not overly sweet or salty. If you are looking for a more or less delicious and healthy restaurant option to fill your Chinese food needs Jia Ji is definitely the one to try. We love the snow peas and garlic, pepper chicken and the chow mein with their own home made noodles. Five star...
