Hurvinek — Hotel in Parroquia Manglaralto

I was GRANDPAcking in Montanita for 4 nights.||I booked myself into the Galeria Hurvinek … it was away from ‘Main Street’ in one of the quieter side streets.||I booked a Double Room (single occupancy) at a discounted rate of US$18.30 / night (which included 22% tax). ||For another $4 / night I included the optional Breakfast.||My room was an average size. It had some furniture .. including a decent clothes rack.||It had a good sized ensuite. But, only a cold water shower (at this time of year, hot water is almost a necessity).||I had a small balcony over-looking the street.||The Buffet Breakfast was served in the restaurant. For US$4 (in Ecuador) I have had better value for money … there was hardly any scrambled egg. In fact, there always seemed to be insufficient food for the number of guests. But, at least, they had unlimited coffee! 🙂 One morning I was the only one eating Breakfast so they didn’t lay out a buffet at all – they just brought me scrambled egg.||The Free WiFi down in the restaurant area was poor and very unreliable during the day … the upstairs in-room wifi was better but, often, you could only stream video...

This place is ok but not worth the price. We booked four rooms including the biggest suite. Beware, their policy at the desk is different than the one posted online or on the back of their doors. They charge $40 for an extra person. When asked to simply provide an extra room instead of charging twice the price, they claimed they had no rooms, even though I pulled up the reservations page to prove rooms were available. The big room was clean, but had super hard stiff beds and dirty bathrooms, and absolutely no air. The fan was so dusty we could not turn in on. The balconies have no view, unless you are on the top floor. The breakfast and parking is a plus, but the zumba studio and rowdy street make it impossible to...

The breakfast/reception area is nicely decorated and the staff is friendly. The breakfast buffet is nice too. The double private room (quite pricey, taxes aren't included online) suffers from the noise from the town and is very hot, even with a fan on (and the small airco machine doesn't really work). It also only had hot water for 2 of the +- 7 showers I took during our stay. We were there for 3 days and the towels were changed every day, but the bedlinen or bathroom mat wasn't. The bathroom wasn't cleaned either (we walked in quite some sand in three days, which accumulated in the shower so it was very obvious). There are much better hostels in Montanita for a...
