I've traveled quite a bit in Ecuador over the past few years, but have never gone to this area of the coast. I was very excited to check out Montanita for the first time, because I heard it was a LOT of fun although I had my reservations about getting any rest there (a LOT of partying). So I looked a little way out and ended up finding this hostel that was literally 5 minutes drive from the party town.||||During the day, you can chill out on the beach in Manglaralto or take a quick taxi ride over to Montanita. Taxi's run all night too so getting back after a few is no problem.||||The hostel itself is really charming with big rooms and hammocks outside each one. It was so relaxing, I wish I could have extended my stay. The owners are very friendly and helpful and Jorge speaks excellent English. And as a side note: the sunsets here are out of this world! Probably hence the name...||||All in all, being able to "play" in Montanita and have a nice, relaxing place to stay just out of town was literally the best decision I...
Read moreHad the pleasure of staying here at the Sunset & loved it! The staff were incredibly kind and thoughtful. Breakfast was provided each morning consisting of eggs, cheese, bread, juice and coffee. Only 50 mts away from the beach so it's super easy to get to the beautiful Pacific waters! The beach nearby is clean and secluded. ||The location is great because its far enough away from the more crowded & lively Montanita, but is still close enough to walk (20-30 minutes along the beach) or take a 5 minute taxi for about $1.50. ||Would definitely stay here rather than the more tourist-populated Montanita. Great service. Convenient location. Friendly staff....
Read moreThe Manglaralto Sunset Hostel is a wonderful family managed place. I loved to have a chat with grandma in the morning while having the included breakfast on the porch. The beach and the ocean is just a minute walk away and this beach is in comparison to the beach in Montañita not crowded. If you want to party it's just a 15 minute wonderful walk on the beach to Montañita. The food in the local restaurants is good and way cheaper than in Montañita. I had a plate full of shrimps in a delicious sauce for just USD 2,50, unbeatable! And if you just want to chill, make use of one of the numerous hammocks in the hostel....
