We arrived early in the morning after a night bus and the hostel were accommodating and gave us a room to put our stuff in and shower in, until check in at 12pm. Breakfast was lovely and great value for the amount of food! The hostel was clean, bathrooms good sizes and beds were very comfortable. All in all it seemed like a lovely place to stay.||However, after spending the day in and out of the hostel, we arrived back from the beach at around 8.30pm to quickly get some money to go to the market stall next to the hostel. Shortly after, we reentered the hostel and were rudely greeted by the man working there on the evening shift. Although we didn't get his name, he had a big beard, spoke Spanish and rode a red bike. He demanded that we pay for our room immediately, and naturally we were confused as we had never been asked to pay for the hostel 6 hours after checking in. Because we hadn't been asked to pay when checking in, we assumed we would pay at check out the following morning. ||After some discussion (using google translate) he continued to insist that we pay immediately even though we were heading to bed. We continued to ask why we couldn't pay in the morning as we had no cash to pay with at that time. He then said we needed to go to the cash point, despite it being dark and potentially dangerous. When we suggested this danger, he unsympathetically brushed aside our concerns and continued to demand payment.||Maybe the girl checking us in forgot to ask for payment at the time, but despite this, during the check in process she was otherwise very helpful, kind and made us feel welcome. However when the issue was brought to her attention by the rude and persistent man on reception, she never addressed the fact that she hadn't asked us to pay when checking in and instead simply claimed that she never said we could pay the following morning. This only added to our confusion, and as it seemed we were never going to reach a conclusion, we went to get cash out.||Although travelling in a group we needed to pay separately. Initially the man refused to take our payment separately, and then when he did, he was reluctant to give each of us our specific change. ||We would not have had a problem paying at that time if maybe a mistake had been made at check in, but it was the way the man on reception handled the situation. His accusatory tone made us feel really uncomfortable, stupid and that we were at fault. ||The other members of staff were delightful and helpful, especially the lady that served us breakfast, so we don't this experience to tarnish the work of the other employees. However it was an atrocious situation which ruined our...
Read moreI stayed at this "boutique" in December of 2017 and I highly recommend not staying here. The rooms are okay and there is a TV that turns on but no channels. The pool is more like a pond that no one swims in and there are no comfortable social places to hang out. There is no bar here unless they were referring to the area with a few chairs and tables where no one hangs out. There is also a kitchen but they don't allow you to cook your own food. I stayed in the six bed dorm and people staying in the other dorm had to come use our shower because theirs wasn't working. There are no lockers in the dorm to lock your valuables in. I was taking a night bus the day I checked out so I checked out in the morning and went to hike in the national park. When I returned I asked if I was allowed to use a shower before I got on the night bus because I had become sweaty and sandy from the hike in the national park. They flat out said no even though I explained my situation. The staff was not helpful what so ever and some what rude. There are definitely better options for the same price, if not less, to stay in...
Read moreBooked the premium room for 3 nights. The first 2 nights were ok. The specified swimming pool is 4 by 1 meter and therefor not really used in my presence. Had to push for new towels every day as they don’t clean the rooms daily From27 september 2017 the owner opened a new club to bring in additional revenue. The club is next to my premium room. The music was very loud from the beginning, fro Milley Vanilly (duh) to modern house later. When I asked at 22:00 if the music could be put down, they told me I could leave if I didn’t like. It. There was just a small group in the place. If you like the place, check the music policy befor making a reservation with the owner. If you like a quiet night, book a different place and come for the party when it suits you. A hotel should be more considerent with their paying guests. Hence 1 star based on this...
