Isabela Island has been magical. We were greeted with the most hospitality by the hosts at Cerro Azul. Check in was smooth, we got great recommendations for things to do. When our AC didnt work, they quickly moved us to a new room. They even arranged a taxi for us in the morning at 5AM. The wifi was very fast even good enough for zoom meetings. Also the location was close to most things in the town. Theres also a laundry next store ans a supermarket on the other side.
Still, the most scary but meaningful event that we will remember about the hospitality and kindness of Isabela and the Galapagos is forgetting our GoPro camera. We accidentally left a GoPro and its case at the hotel and realized after getting on the ferry leaving the island to Santa Cruz. Luckily, we messaged Cerro Azul and they found it. In 5 minutes they contacted a boat captain and arranged for them to bring it to me in Santa Cruz on the next ferry at 3PM for $10. Super relieved and grateful...
Read moreThere was nothing really good with the hostel, it was really basic. That doesn't mean that it was bad either, it was just the fact that you get what you pay for. We would probably come back since there aren't that many hotels there is that budget, at least not when we visited.||||- We didn't like that it was really noisy, both from the road outside and the pair when people was sitting there. They might as well have been in our room. The ventilation from the bathroom went out just by a hole to the common area and a lot of noise went in from there to. The bed was short (like in a lot of places here) so my husband had a hard time sleeping since they had a bedhead at the feet that went up. There was no breakfast, and the Wifi was bad, worse then on other places in Galapagos. It was also locked at night and in the morning and it was really hard to find in, which is a problem since the boat leaves early in...
Read moreWe initially booked for 3 nights but having realised they don't take card we had to vacate ASAP. Yes our initial mistake. Mistakes happen. We had barely any time in the room when we alerted the hotel owner. He kept repeating in Spanish his problem is our problem. Having no means to pay for our few hours in the room (not even 1 night), we paced up and down the town to try and find a method of payment. We came back to the hotel and we painfully waited for the slow internet to proceed with a Western Union transaction. Around 3 hours. We could not leave until the hotel had the code. We paid for 1 night even though I personally didn't think it was fair, we were barely in the room 30 minutes let alone 1 night. ||We were assigned room 1 which was noisy, at the front of the hotel...
