Friendly family run hotel, situated 5 - 10 mins walk from the main street and beach. Because of this you are on the edge of the "pretty part of town". The outlook from our room was not good and next door and down the road to the left it was like a building site, however a few yards to the right and you are in the fancy paved part !||||Good English spoken, seemed to have to do the tour operators job telling us times for tours etc next day.||||Room basic, bathroom small and shower not good, at times no hot water or bad pressure (we were on the ground floor at the front). There was a safe in the room. ||||No Fridge, TV Spanish, Wi-fi slow and patchy, no tea/coffee in room or water - but they had a free chilled dispenser for water in reception to make up for that. ||||Reception is an open area next to the room we were in and we were kept awake on two nights by the noisy big family that was also staying there, sitting and debating loudly. In their defense had they been inside it would not have been a major issue, but the only place to congregate is on the two benches there so it encourages this.||||Breakfast OK, but unless you tell them otherwise they seem to just cook and bring you scrambled eggs, so get your order in...
Read moreSula Sula, with its clean accommodations and A/C was MUCH appreciated after sweating for days at our hostel in Santa Cruz. We liked being away from the noise, not a far walk from the beach. Happy with breakfast which they had ready for us early early one morning before our 5AM ferry, very sweet. Also allowed us to use the kitchen, which was well-stocked, but maybe not open to everyone? ONLY complaint: two towels we received smelled so strongly of cigarette smoke. We knew we needed to bring it up during our stay instead of after as I'm sure it's an easy fix, but were too busy and ran out of time. A family run establishment I'm happy to support.
The gentlemen at reception we now affectionately refer to as "Hostel Dad" was so kind for our stay. On our last night, we took the 5AM ferry back to Santa Cruz en route to San Cristobal and he came on the shuttle with us, which we first found to be unnecessary except for when our scam of "travel agency" we booked with in Santa Cruz, didn't send our money or put us on the list which led to so much unnecessary stress at 4:45 in the morning, and Hostel Dad was the first to jump in and help contact the agency and stay with us until we were safely on our way!...
Read moreThe hotel is pretty basic and lacks some amenities like no TV in our room, no hair dryer, and not enough counter space in the bathroom as it's only a pedestal sink. Our room is on the third floor , and we have to carry our luggage down due to early check out. We had a king bed and were quite comfortable. Breakfast is included in our rate, which is scrambled eggs, fruits, and bread. On our first day, the light wasn't working, and the ac needed battery changed. However, the 2 sisters running the hotel ,Mia and Valia, are trying their best to help whatever they can. They provided me a wetsuit for my Los Tuneles snorkeling trip. As other reviewers noted that it's located at the end of the town, but it's walkable to restaurants and the beach. A laundromat is located close by. We paid $1 for a taxi ride from the pier to the hotel. Also, the hotel helped us book our trip to Los Tuneles. We have to pay cash for the room as they don't accept CC. ||So, if you're okay with just a basic and clean room, this hotel might work for you as their price is...
