This is the second time that we stayed at the Black Pearl. The rooms and apartments are so nicely finished in detail (there are smaller rooms and also apartments which are fully equipped with a refrigerator and small kitchenette, we have stayed in both). The (bath)room is spacious and comfortable with a very nice shower. We’ve stayed in a lot of hotels on the Galápagos Islands and we have never seen such nicely finished/decorated (bath)rooms. Also everything was very clean, that is something we value most! The lights have a nice dimmer so you can enjoy a cosy environment instead of the room looking like you are being prepped for surgery haha. The owners Lienke and Dario are very nice and very helpful. When you check in you will get a full explanation of Isabela and everything that the beautiful island has to offer. Need a tour? They’ll help you. Need nice restaurant tips? They’ll help you. Also, if you want breakfast, don’t skip that! A very nice extensive breakfast. Good start of the day! Also, very good WiFi and you can rent snorkel gear! Don’t hesitate when you are searching for a nice...
Read moreBlack Pearl has got to be one of the best accommodations on the island. Not only is the building itself really lovely, but the rooms are really spacious and bathrooms especially luxurious. But the best thing are the wonderful hosts, Lienke, her husband Dario and their sweet little boy. They really went above and beyond to make us feel comfortable and our stay as good as it could possibly be. They were very sweet and helpful when I wasn’t feeling too well. It’s true that the location is a slight walk into town, but this just adds to the tranquility of the place. The only thing that would be quite handy to have would be bikes to rent onsite or borrow for trips into town when it’s especially hot. But it’s really only a 5-10 min walk and I was a bit under the weather so it’s probably not completely necessary :) Also, contact them directly for the best rates! Thank you so much Lienke & Dario for being...
Read moreIf you're looking for a place to stay on Isabela, look no further! We had an excellent time at la Perla Negra: it's quite new, modern, stylish, very clean and comfortable and you have access to a small cold kitchen to prepare your breakfast or chill in one of the hammocks. But the best part is the host, Lienke, who moved to Galapagos from the Netherlands ten years ago and owns the place together with her Ecuadorian husband. When we arrived, she drew us a map of the town and pointed out the best supermarkets, where to get the best & cheapest bikes, where to eat (all her recommendations were fantastic), what free activities we could do and what tours we could book. We booked two tours directly through her and they were both really good. So from our arrival on, we had no planning to do but just followed her advice and were thus able to make the most of our time on this...
