World tour stop-over at The Hacienda la Carriona|in the country side near Quito there is this gem on a road less travelled.."A HOME AWAY FROM HOME "..and this is the real atmosphere.. the room with fireplace ,woodshed, big bed with many pillows and hot blankets, everithings is|clean and elegant, ..no tv in the room but i'm agree with this philosophy for stay in tune with nature!|The staff(very kindly) welcomed us warmly and with a big smile,they show us the property and we enjoy with animals in the garden especially with 2 nice alpacas! The restaurant combining a good selection of traditional dishes and unusual local specialities..the breakfast is very good with fresh fruit and fresh juice, home eggs and hot bread!|The atmosphere is magic..bring you back in time, 200 years ago ! The different dining room in old style are like a museum ! ..hotel higly reccomended..where beauty of nature and charm harmoniously...
Read moreWe stayed here while visiting friends who live nearby. Wonderful hospitality - especially from Esperanza when serving us the amazing farm fresh breakfast from their property every morning! The accommodations were quite basic and rustic, but very clean. Common areas were lovely and well maintained. We loved walking around and exploring every morning after breakfast. ||||We did have a bright light on every night outside our room which was a bit distracting. After a heavy rainfall, we had to be moved to another room due to flooding in our closet. The staff were very apologetic and five employees immediately showed up in our room and helped carry our things to our new room. This was followed up with a tray of coffee and delicious dessert. Read moreI only went here for a day trip with my NGO, we used their conference space for a workshop and ate lunch. The service was excellent, everything was well organized and ready for us as we had planned in the emails. The lunch was delicious and the conference room was all set up with a projector, screen, coffee, speaker, etc. The grounds were lovely to walk around during our breaks and the animals that they have were super cool including some al pacas and beautiful peacocks. I didn't stay the night but I know that most haciendas in Ecuador are old, rustic, and creakyl. If that isn't your thing, don't come - cobwebs and a little must should be expected as most of these buildings are ancient. If you wan't something perfect go to the Hilton, if you want to experience Ecuador, Carriona is a great option right...
