The hotel is very close to the airport. I booked the hotel and arrived around noon hoping to see the area or go into Quito. Very disappointed. The hotel is being renovated and two buildings are completed. If one wants to see the local area,| one has to flag down a taxi. I would have to go back to the airport to catch a bus to Quito, a 45 minute trip, or Otavalo, a 2 hour trip.| I had a choice of dormitory or large or small bedroom. Had I chose dormitory I think I would have ended up with a large bedroom with private bath. I chose the small bedroom which had a double and a single bed. My only concern was that the room was right outside the smoking area. | The plan arrived early so I had to wait for the shuttle and Jose was on time. It was a 5 minute trip to the hotel and when I checked in, the clerk tried to charge me for the shuttle service but there was a $7 charge starting in Nov 2017. Continental breakfast is $2.50. | After the administration was completed and I was taken to my room, I went our to look for something to eat. Restaurants #1 and. #2 quit serving lunch, #3 directed me to #4 after asking where I was staying. #4 belonged to Alpachaca but the door was down in spite of signs saying open 24 hours. Someone inside came to roll up the door and said they would be opened at 3 PM so I went back to me room until they notified me it was opened. When I went back to the restaurant, I was told the menu either grilled chicken or beef. I chose the chicken knowing the beef can be tough and chewy. The servings were ample and a drink came with the $6 meal. The cook and waitress had to go back to the hotel so I was asked to close and lock the front door on my way back to the hotel where the waitress met me to pay my bill!| I only used the Wi-Fi so cannot comment on the TV but there seemed to be ample choice according to the listing. There was a desk area to do work but no lamp so the room light had to suffice. | There was only a bath towel provided. No wash or hand towels. The bathroom had a nice gadget which I had not seen elsewhere. A motion detector was built into the switch and turned on the bathroom light when entering and stayed on as long as there was movement. Otherwise hitting the switch turned the light on permanently. Nice. | One could hear noise outside the room in the evening so if one needs to go to bed early, ear plugs would be needed. The airport is nearby so planes could be heard until midnight. Once construction is completed, it should be a nice place to visit. Until then, I think I would prefer to sleep at the airport overnight area where I would have many choices for dining and could take a bus into Quito for the day without worries about also having to pay for a...
Read moreI have to edit this review again !! Okay, 3rd time edit. This morning I went up to get coffee and the girl put the hot water on, of course after giving me cold water to make the instant coffee. They only provide instant coffee here. Anyway, she put the water on and left. She didn't return. After 15 minutes, I left. By the way. I'm using my own wifi again because their wifi doesn't work. IF YOU NEED WIFI, DON'T COME HERE. Also. They dry the laundry where you are supposed to eat outside. Photo provided. 😡 .. Originally I cancelled the 2nd week because they didn't have WiFi the last couple days but they finally got it back up after I cancelled. I simply rebooked it. The young man at the desk was helpful and I rebooked it. Big mistake. The kinder I am it seems more disrespectful people get and the woman at this place was no different. I was outside smoking my cigarette in the designated area at 8pm on Sunday night and a group of people checked in to the room next to me. As I was walking to my room the woman asked wasn't I suppose to check out this past Wednesday .. Without checking her own records first, I had to show her I paid for the 2nd week. Still unsatisfied she went through her receipts to find my payment. She already knew I was there past Wednesday because she helped clean my room that Friday, here it was Sunday. She was actually going to ask me to leave at 8pm on a Sunday night because she wanted to give my room to someone else. Don't get me started with the woman who does the laundry. A small load of laundry and without a smile ( I would always greet her with a hello and a smile) she brought up the basket of my clothes wrinkled and not folded crumpled up. 7 USD. It seems like a nice place and it would be unlikely you will have the same experience. My advice, don't smile or be cheerful in any way. ////////5 minutes From the airport...l the...
Read moreKind of an odd little place. It is very close to the airport (less than 5mins drive), but off a dirt side road behind what looks to be a farm. The room was clean and quiet, however, so no complaints there. Check-in and check-out was a bit weird as well. You have to hit this buzzer and wait for someone to come.
They advertised that their restaurant is open in the little info pamphlet, but when I went in search of food around 5:30pm, it was completely closed. There is another little restaurant down the dirt side road, but they did not open for dinner until 6pm. I ended up eating there because the restaurant associated w/the hotel was still not open.
It seems to be run by a family and one of the sons was very nice to walk me to the restaurant for the included breakfast, which was very good and filling.
They also arranged a taxi for me (which they cover the cost of as it is included in the rate) back to the airport for my flight. The taxi there was arranged by a very nice information desk agent who contacted the hotel from the airport. Apparently you are supposed to pre-arrange the transport from the airport to the hotel, but I made the reservation while at the airport, so there really was not a way to do this. Thankfully, they didn't make a big deal about it, but I think if they advertise that the transportation to/from the airport is included, then it should be "on demand".
In any case, $36 might have been a bit much for the location, but in the end, it was a clean, quiet place to spend the night that included breakfast, with excellent wifi and satellite tv (you could even change the audio language from spanish to english!) and was a better alternative than spending my long (12+hrs) layover at...
