Overall review for the hotel: I have visited the hotel with my family for a period of 3 weeks. November - December. The hotel is overall really really nice, although I couldn't enjoy much of it, since I had online learning for all the time, and at weekends I was swimming in the sea. For the first week, I have been enjoying data (32gb) from an Orange Egypt card, distributed by one of the tour operators (BGO Operator), for around 25€ (30 USD). Our whole family was connected to the 4G network, and we managed to consume 32GB data in 1 week (6-7 devices - phones, computers, tablets). The mobile signals were available only after a change of the room to a higher elevated one, with a view to the neighboring Makadi Spa Hotel. Nor Mobile signal (Orange EG), nor Wi-Fi wasn't originally foundable on our previous room, but the room change saved it. For the next week, we bought an internet login card, from the reception, for 2 devices, originally for 10 days. On the card was only 7 days, but they managed to make it longer for us. There are two Wi-Fi networks, "REDSEAHOTELS" available on the reception area, which is usually overused by guests, and there are not much access points. There is another network, "MoGa@RedSeaHotels" that is a paid network, that has installed all over the hotel complex (not only The Grand Makadi). The Wi-Fi antennas usually are Cisco routers and Ubiquiti Nanostation 5AC loco and Ubiquiti Nanostation M5 antennas. The speeds on the rooms were 2Mbps download, 1Mbps upload maximum, although at the reception on the payed network, the download was around 8Mbps. Internet is hosted by Etisalat, whereas there are installed antennas on the Etisalat mobile network all around the hotel. The number of Wi-Fi access points is a bit of an overkill for me, as they are now on every corner and are slowing down everything.
Food in the hotel was really tasty, there is a main restaurant Lagoon, and there are 2 thematic restaurants, one is with a Lebanese theme, the other one is Italian and Carribean, changing every day. We have all inclusive, and for the price we payed it is really fair. In every restaurant and bar there are usually the stations for juices, there are usually; Orange juice, Apple juice, Pineapple juice, Mango juice, or also water is available. There are also 2 beach "restaurants" with possibilities like burgers or fish.
For dinner at the Lagoon restaurant there are usually 2 soups available, then traditional side dishes like rice or potatoes, then there is a wide availability of meat, like grilled meat, and so on. Overall, the team was really generous and good, and I would like to thank to all of them, mostly to the manager of the hotel, that made my life easier, since I also had exams, which I couldn't do on the reception, where was the best internet. We will soon be flying home to Vienna, therefore I think I have included most of my expiriences. Again, the hotel was beautiful, and hope to...
Read moreJust back from our most recent trip to Makadi Spa, and WOW, it was as exceptional as ever.We spent 10 days relaxing in this beautiful hotel and enjoying all the restaurants, both at the spa and their sister hotels. The service and attention to detail were as ever faultless, and I should highlight three individuals who went above and beyond.Waghim Mohamed, Ismiaiel Ibrahim & Hossam Said.Waghim is the go-to gentleman for all your in-spa ala carte reservations. He is also the welcoming face at the Fish & Steak restaurant. How this man manages to be everywhere at once amazes us. He is super friendly and knowledgeable, and his attention to detail with suggestions and recommendations is second to none. Genuinely a huge credit to the Spa. I hope you get to see this review Waghim and thank you for all you did.We hired private sunbeds on the beachfront for our stay. Whilst it wasn't 100% necessary as there were plenty of choices for beds on the beach and around the pool, we like the quietness and view (although the sandflies on the last day were rather annoying!). What made it even more special was the care and attention provided by Ismiaiel and overseen by Hossam. The balance of enquiring whether we needed anything and giving us the space to just chill was perfect. We particularly found Ismiaiel to be outstanding and, again, a huge credit to Makadi Spa. For our last evening, we chose to have dinner on the beach. You'll need to book this in advance, and again Waghim took care of everything along with his team it was a perfect evening, with amazing food and the best way to end our holiday. Genuine review, outstanding. Thank you to the whole Makadi Spa team, not only those mentioned in this review. We look forward to...
Read moreFunny thing is that you can read mixed reviews about this property. It isn't the most modern hotel in the area.. that is true, BUT..you will know that when you book.. everything else is just outstanding. The room was clean and fresh every day with small gestures on the side from the housekeeping.. which made the room feel like home..any problem we had was handled professionally and the best way possible. The reception is professional and very welcoming, going far and beyond to make everyone feel happy and comfortable in Grand Makadi. About the gastronomy... If you are looking for fine dining.. or pretentious food.. then it isn't for you, however.. if you like freshly made honest food served by chefs and waiters looking to make every single wish of yours then this is your place to go to .. We were so fortunate that we had the executive chef showing us around in the dining room, explaining about the tasty dishes are made there or in some cases are being made right in front of you. So many different options there are for dining... Buffet restaurant, beach side restaurants, many alacarte restaurants.. all in all amazing. The location and the surroundings are just great. The sea is undescribably beautiful... full of life and the hotel is in a quiet area which is perfectly suitable for relaxing. These good people are just simply looking for every single opportunity to make your stay special. There were attentive, very helpful, funny and truly friendly. Will we go back? YES, WE WILL! We are looking forward to visiting Grand Makadi again soon and also looking forward very much to meeting all the good friends we made there... the hard working, kind, good hearted people that working...
