Thai Garden — Restaurant in Makadi Bay

Terrible...

We ate here last night and booked the night before for 7.30pm the host who took the booking could have been less interested and was very hostile, we assumed that it was a one off but on returning the next day for our meal he was there again with a face like thunder and was very unwelcoming... he took our room number and said in side or out side myself and my partner discussed it briefly and while we were doing so he very rudely raised his voice and again said inside or out side we decided out side.. We felt so sorry for the waiters as it was obvious they were on edge. Waiters in polo shirts where lovely. The gentleman in collared shirts (if you can call the that)were very arrogant and not interested at, we arnt sure if it because we are English. It took a while to order some wine which we were greeted with a comment you know you have to pay!! We said of course, they took the drinks order at the same time as the food order and the starters and wine turned up at the same time.. plates were cleared straight away regardless if anyone else was still eating and the next course was there waiting on a tray, they clearly were in a rush to get us out and when dessert came one of the seniors in a shirt tried to clear the plate before my partner had finished, all tables were stripped before dessert. The restaurant was a great surprise. Very clean and well-kept. The atmosphere in the restaurant is really nice. The staff are friendly, courteous and extremely attentive. The welcome when you enter is warm and carried out in an absolutely professional manner. The service is fast, super organized and caters to all requests that can be fulfilled, but without being intrusive. The dishes on the menu are really tasty and well chosen. Even the chef personally comes out of the kitchen and asks if everything is OK. This is not standard in other restaurants here. This chef has nothing to hide either, as there is nothing to complain about. The only suggestion I would have would be to perhaps expand the starter selection by one or two dishes. Perhaps, since we are right by the sea, a small octopus salad in lemon vinaigrette or two or three fried prawns in olive oil with garlic to enhance the holiday feeling for the guests right by the sea. That would be worth a try. In general, however, the cuisine at the Thai Garden was absolutely convincing. Top service, top cuisine, top staff and you really feel welcome and warmly received here. Das Restaurant gehört zum All-in-Konzept des Makadi Palce Hotel. Wir haben zu viert alle Restaurants des Makadi Palace ausprobiert und nirgendwo so schlecht gegessen, wie hier. Gewürze fehlten jedem Gericht, unter anderem waren die Rinderfiletstreifen zäh wie Leder und wirklich ungenießbar. Selbst das Bier wurde ohne jegliche Bierkrone serviert, sah abgestanden aus und schmeckte tatsächlich auch so ...ohne jegliche Kohlensäure.

Das in diesem Hotel sonst so unglaublich aufmerksame und äußerst freundliche Personal war hier überraschenderweise nicht zu finden. Alle wirkten genervt, lustlos und regelrecht sauer, wenn man z. B. den zuzahlungspflichten Wein nicht bestellen/ausprobieren wollte.

Also wir essen zuhause auch nicht vom goldenen Teller und erwarten in einem All-in-Hotel sicher kein Feinschmeckeressen, aber so schlecht haben wir noch nie gegessen und können einen Besuch hier wirklich nicht weiterempfehlen.
