Do you wish for a luxury stay with beautiful facilities, outstanding service, 10/10 food, and an overall high-class experience?||||Then let me be very clear: this resort is ABSOLUTELY NOT the place⛔️⛔️!!!||||||||My friend and I stayed at Amwaj Oyoun Resort & Casino Spa from September 1st to September 7th, 2025. What was sold to us as a “high-end luxury resort” turned out to be the worst travel experience of our lives.||||||||We arrived at 04:00 AM, exhausted and ready for rest, only to be handed a room that was a complete disgrace. The bathroom ceiling had clear water damage – and to make matters worse, it was actively dripping water down from the ceiling. The toilet had filth left inside, the sink was stained, and the bed linen had marks on it. Instead of comfort, we were welcomed by dirt, leaks, and neglect.||||||||When we immediately contacted the reception, they sent a technician/handyman who looked at the ceiling and casually told us, in broken English: “We fix tomorrow.” Imagine arriving at a resort you have paid a premium price for, only to be told to sleep under a dripping, damaged ceiling, with a filthy toilet and dirty sheets. We made it very clear that we wanted a new room immediately, not “tomorrow.” But after a short and unhelpful discussion with staff, we realized nothing would be solved that night. We were forced to spend the first night in those disgusting conditions – with water literally dripping from above.||||||||The next day, we went back to the reception, this time with photo evidence of the unacceptable state of the room. The receptionist looked at it and dismissed it with the words “just a small problem.” The arrogance and lack of professionalism in that statement were staggering. A dripping ceiling, dirty toilet, stained sink, and filthy linen are not “small problems.” They are deal breakers.||||Eventually, after pushing harder, we were offered what they called an “upgraded” room. We were given the room number and told we could go and check it out. My friend and I walked there – and it felt like wandering through Narnia. We walked forever, far away from everything. When we finally arrived, we opened the door and were shocked. The “upgrade” was nothing more than a complete downgrade: dark, depressing, and resembling a rotting nursing home. This was supposed to be luxury? It was laughable.||||We went all the way back to reception and told them this was unacceptable. We demanded a room in the same building as our original one. Their answer? That such a room would only be available the following day. So once again, we had to spend another night in the original filthy room with dripping water from the ceiling and unhygienic conditions.||||So within the first two days, we had experienced:||||A room with active water damage dripping from the ceiling.||||Toilets left dirty, a stained sink, and filthy bed linen.||||Staff who dismissed it all as “just a small problem.”||||An “upgrade” that was a complete downgrade.||||Two nights forced in unacceptable conditions because of the resort’s lack of responsibility.||||The food:||If the rooms were a nightmare, the food was equally shocking. I have eaten military field rations that were far better prepared, more hygienic, and more enjoyable. Both the “fine dining” restaurant and the main buffet served food of equally poor quality.||||But the worst part? The so-called “reservations only” Italian restaurant – advertised as an exclusive experience. We expected something refined, something special. Instead, what did we get? The exact same dishes as the basic buffet, simply served on different plates. And the “steak” they presented us with was beyond ridiculous. It looked and tasted like a limp McDonald’s attempt at pretending to make gourmet food.||||To make matters even worse, the hygiene in the restaurant was absolutely shocking: when we went to use the toilet, we were met with human waste smeared on the toilet seat itself. Not inside the bowl – on the seat. This is beyond disgusting, entirely unacceptable, and shows complete disregard for any basic sanitary standard. It is impossible to overstate how revolting this was.||||The hygiene in all restaurants was abysmal. The level was directly comparable to a kindergarten cafeteria where food is thrown around and no one bothers to clean. This is not just unhygienic, it is revolting – and dangerous.||||The staff:||Unprofessional, careless, and without the slightest idea of hospitality and service. We had to repeatedly beg for basic things like fresh towels. The hotel’s own instructions said: “leave towels on the floor if you want them replaced.” We did exactly that – yet nothing happened, again and again, until we complained multiple times. Why should paying guests have to instruct staff on such basic service?||||The attitude was dismissive throughout. From the technician’s broken-English “we fix tomorrow,” to the receptionist’s “just a small problem,” everything about the staff screamed incompetence and arrogance.||||The facilities:||Run-down, outdated, and depressing. What was advertised online as “luxury facilities” was closer to prison-level conditions. The pools were dirty, the common areas were neglected, and the overall maintenance was non-existent. The glossy pictures online were pure deception.||||Overall experience:||My friend and I both agree this was the worst holiday we have ever had. The resort failed in every single area: rooms, cleanliness, food, staff, and facilities. It is a scam, designed to trick tourists with glossy marketing while delivering filth, incompetence, and misery.||||We were treated with disrespect, placed in unacceptable rooms with dripping ceilings and dirty toilets, served disgusting food, and forced to deal with staff who had no clue about hospitality. Every so-called “solution” was either a downgrade, a delay, or a lie.||||If you are considering booking this resort, my strongest advice is: don’t do it. You will waste your money, destroy your holiday, and regret the decision for years to come. This is not a resort. It is a fraud dressed up as luxury.||||A -10/10 experience – and that is still me being generous. This was not a vacation. This was a week-long nightmare.||||⚠️ Final Warning to Tourists: If this hotel was located in Europe, it would have been shut down immediately by the health authorities for hygiene violations, safety issues, and outright fraud. The fact that it is still operating in Egypt is shocking – and should serve as a clear warning to anyone even considering booking it. Stay...
Read moreROOM: The room is very old and partially damaged. It appears that no renovations have been done in the last 20 years, and things are visibly falling apart. During our one-week stay, we experienced water shortages twice. While superficially being cleaned, the armchairs and floor were covered with dust. However the shower works, the bed is comfortable, fresh towels are provided every other day, and the nights are quiet. Safe, phone and air conditioning were not working. Rating: 2/5
INTERNET: The internet is a disaster. Connectivity is extremely limited to reception area and when you do manage to get on-line the speed is painfully slow. It’s not suitable for work, so don’t even think about bringing a laptop. On the bright side, this could be an opportunity for you and your family to enjoy a healthy week of media detox. Rating: 1/5
FOOD: The food selection is excellent, with a wide variety of fresh raw, boiled, and grilled vegetables, along with chicken, fish and beef every day. You will find both Egiptian and European dishes. There are 15-20 types of cakes and different kinds of bread. Essentially, there’s almost everything you could want, and it’s always fresh and tasty. If you’re someone prone to complaining about food, you might still find something to critique, but most people will be happy. Rating: 5/5
SWIMMING POOL: The pool is enormous and surrounded by a lush, green garden. It’s absolutely beautiful. Rating: 5/5
SEA FRONT: The beachfront is expansive, with umbrellas and a pier to access the deeper water beyond the reef. Be aware that you cannot swim directly from the beach, as the water over the reef is only 20-30 cm deep. You need to walk to the end of the pier, where you’ll find a stunningly beautiful sea with vibrant fish and corals. The reef drops dramatically to a depth of over 30 meters, which makes swimming here an unforgettable experience. However, there is some current, so if you’re not a strong swimmer, you might find yourself drifting toward another resort and unable to get back to the pear (this happened to someone every time I was there). Exercise caution! Rating: 4/5
STAFF: The staff are the true heroes of this place. They work incredibly hard to provide quality service, often with little or no break, earning less than €100 per month. Despite these conditions, they remain friendly, polite, and always smiling. Be respectful and kind to them—if you can, offer tips as a small gesture of gratitude. It’s humbling to realize how lucky you are to be on the receiving end of their service. Rating 5/5
NOTE: Be cautious of scams in the area, especially at the airport. For instance, I was asked to pay €5 for "help" filling out my visa application, only to later realize that the visa itself was free for Sinai.
PEOPLE: This is a budget-friendly hotel, so expect budget-conscious guests. This includes large, noisy families and individuals trying to maximize the all-inclusive offerings. It’s not an elegant or refined environment. Rating: 3/5
SUSTAINABILITY: The resort relies heavily on single-use items such as plastic glasses, straws, paper cups, and plastic plates. This approach is outdated, as modern hotels have largely moved away from such practices. Moreover, much of this plastic inevitably ends up on the beach or in the sea, often due to irresponsible guests who leave it behind, assuming someone else will clean up after them. A similar issue occurs with cigarette butts, which are scattered around the umbrellas. The level of food waste at the resort is also concerning. At some five-star hotels I’ve visited, signs at the restaurant entrances highlight the amount of food (in kilograms) wasted the previous day to raise guests' awareness and encourage them to reduce waste. Such measures could be beneficial here as well. Rating 1/5
CONCLUSION: As mentioned, this is a low-budget hotel with some notable advantages like the food and beachfront. However, aside from these perks, most things feel cheap and dated. If budget is your priority, this place will suffice. If you’re willing to spend more for...
Read moreI booked this holiday for my husband and I 12 weeks before we went. Then I got to reading all the reviews on here and on Trip advisor, it put me off to be honest. Bit we were already booked. However, we have had a wonderful stay!!!! This is a long one. The hotel is 4 star rated on here and is 3.5 if we're being honest. Points to note. Will start with faults. Place needs a lick of paint here and there. It's looking a bit tired in places. Main bathroom off the dining area, doors need re hanging and latches fixing on all the doors in my opinion. More regular filling of hand towels and soap dispensers in all toilet areas (beach, bar and restaurant areas). Music is a little repetitive from the dj BUT the Russians and Khasikztans seem to like it, so that's our preference I guess. Cocktail menu does not include my all time favourite, and a staple of cocktails....the pina colada-really should be added I think. Or with so many Russians staying how about a white russian?? Something creamy anyway is needed!!
So so so many positives! Room was super clean and spacious. Nicely decorated and had all amenities. Fresh towels daily if one wanted. Fresh beach towels daily if one wanted. Water in fridge, tea coffee replaced daily. Housekeeping made swans and other shapes out of our towels which was cute. Daily cleaning of rooms. Thank you such to our housekeeper!! Safe in the room which we did not need to use. I left all my jewelry out and it was all safe and I felt it was safe the whole time we were there. Bed linnen in good condition and of good quality cotton. Pillows comfy. Mattress really comfy. Air con available but we didn't use it. Free wifi in the room was fast. Wifi in communal areas somewhat slower of course due to high usage frm all the guests. Food was great. We ate really well every day. Lots of salad choices. Wide range of breakfast choices. Fresh Italian pizza cooked in the pizza oven at lunches and dinner. Fresh bread every day which was deliscious. Pastas etc. No pork FYI as Egypt is a MUSLIM country predominantly. Omlette and egg chef station every breakfast. Chef making fresh pancakes every breakfast. Juices as with all mid range all inclusive (3/3.5 star hotels) were watered down somewhat. Great coffee. Lattes. Machiattos available at breakfast and throughout the day. Chef pasta station at lunches and dinners. Good selection of desserts at all meals and pastries at breakfast. One thing is that you could have more Fresh watermelon and mango. Maybe these are not in season right now. Pool area was fantastic. Could always get a lounger with an umbrella. Which is vital.for me as I am fair skinned. Clean amd well maintained. Beach area was clean and well maintained. Lawns were very green amd well maintained. Well done to the grounds staff.

Nadar who is always smiling and chatty who kept the cocktails flowing throughout the stay. All the staff at the main 24 hr bar, too many names to remember, but thank you!! Again great at their jobs.
The staff at Amwaj really make the place wonderful and should all receive a bonus or salary increase. Without them Amwaj you would be lost!!
If you have read this far, well done! Don't hesitate to book your holiday.
