Firstly I need to say the hotel is beautifully designed and the hotel did take our request for a quieter room, which really was appreciated. The room is lovely and the children loved the decor, with very comfy beds and pillows.
Since we have arrived however, there have been numerous issues and I would really have expected far better from a hotel where you are paying a lot of money and who claim to be a premium brand
checkin took nearly 30/40 minutes and there was only one family in front of us. Once we eventually got checked in nothing was explained to us. No one told us where the restaurants were, how to book any of the Al a cartes etc. Even the colleague delivering us to our room didn't show or explain anything to us. I had to ask where the restaurant for dinner was and was just pointed down a corridor like I should know where I am going. We have been to many hotels in Sharm and what makes them stand out is the staff and customer service. The staff that you are able to interact with are great and display what we have come to know of Egyptian Hospitality. This just didn't seem to spread to those on the check in area and they appeared to be in a rush to get "rid" of us
whilst the room is lovely, for multiple nights there have not been enough towels for all of us. I did not expect to have to share towels to dry ourselves. We did speak to our lovely room cleaner but he explained that all the towels are at the laundry and he will get some as soon as possible. This took 2 hours. I appreciate it's not his fault and he is doing his best, but for a 5 star premium hotel as a minimum I would expect there to enough towels for the guests in the room.
The buffer restaurant, Turquoise Restaurant is just a massive let down and frankly a disgrace to a so called premium hotel. There are no where near enough staff or tables to accommodate the amount of guests. We have never experienced this issue at other hotels in the region. How can people be expected to eat when they can't even find a table. If you aren't there when the restaurant opens expect it to be a scrum to find a table. The staff will do their best to find you a table but they are working on resources. If you are lucky enough to find a table then there are not enough waiters to even get you a drink. You will be lucky if you manage one drink during dinner. There are far too many waiters trying to clear tables and not enough people serving guests. The buffet itself is also a disappointment, with very little change night to night. Where we have stayed at other hotels that operate buffets the nights will have some sort of theme to them and alter their menus and choices, but every night here seems to have the same main choices.
We have managed to book a few al a cartes so hopefully that will help break up the monotony of the buffet. The staff in the Al a cartes are very friendly and the food is good. Be expected though to provide a google review, which they will then want to photo for their records
no service around the pool. We tried ordering drinks from a waiter around the pool, but he just wasn't interested. Our drinks never arrived. Again, it is a lack of staff. How can they have 1 person serving 2 big pools. This is meant to be 5 star resort and the only way to get a drink is to go the 1 pool bar and queue as there is no where near enough staff. I know this appears 1st world problems, but you are paying 1st world prices. Again this hotel sells itself as being premium. We received far better service from far cheaper hotels in Sharm
the shows are typical of large resorts, but are very well done. However, going to watch the show and there will be whole sections reserved for whoever is the chosen VIP group of the night. The rest of the hotel is just made to sit wherever is left and don't expect any service as everything is dedicated to this VIP group. This really isn't acceptable when everyone is paying good money to be here.
We have tried contacting the management to raise the issues, but you don't...
Read moreWe overall had a great time at Rixos Radamis. Location: 10 mins from the airport and soho square. 20 mins from naama bay, old market and farsha cafe. Rooms: we were impressed with the rooms they were well furnished, stocked mini fridge, lots of sockets didn't require adapters (UK), TV had the YouTube app on, the bed was firm but that's a personal preference. Just a heads up we were on the 3rd floor but still managed to get bit by mosquitoes so take bug spray with you and keep the balcony closed where you can Food: The buffet was decent, in typical buffet fashion sometimes the food was cold but there was good choice. The a la cartes were hit or miss. The Peoples has a gorgeous location on the beach but labelled as "International cuisine" the food was unfortunately quite disappointing. The Italian L'olive was also disappointing, I've written a separate review on this but we have stayed in another Rixos previously with the same a la carte and the contrast was stark, so I think it has quite a bit of catching up to do to match up to its sister hotel. The Lebanese Hayal, and Turkish Lazel were lovely great atmosphere and food was delicious. But the best was the Mangel the BBQ a la carte, beautiful setting on the sea. The chef comes and grills your meat next to you and everything was just lovely, I was really pleased to see this was included and not an extra! It's a must if you stay at this hotel. Other food includes lunchtime burgers and sandwiches, shawarma all of which were fine but what I would note is there's not really a good designated place to sit and eat these, they're on the beach and you can't take them in the beach bar so if you're not on a sun lounger it's a bit awkward. A huge highlight was the ice cream parlour on the beach and also at the buffet, movenpick ice cream all included this was brilliant. There were also coffee stalls which did delicious ice lattes with syrups. Just a heads up they don't offer everything that's written on the menu of the wall for some reason, just the basics but they were very good coffees. There was also a noodle cart at the blue planet pool and a waffle cart at the Tirana pool. As for drinks we do not drink alcohol so can't comment on this, however at the buffet sometimes it was hard to get drinks served with your meal but a big plus to this hotel that I haven't seen elsewhere was there is a bar in the buffet room so we would just go up and get our drink ourself and they also did lay out some juices etc in a drinks fridge. Also coffee machines and to my absolute delight there was also pots of tea brewed, always so you could serve yourself add a bit of hot water to thin it out and milk is ready there next to it. Other hotels could take a leaf out of their book because for me that was a game changer rather than trying to get served during mealtimes is usually hectic at other places. We did try out some mocktails, the hotel had a "beverage menu" that i scanned a qr code of but everytime I showed it to anyone at any bar they all seemed to have never seen it before and you'd never get the same variation of the mocktail you pick twice presumably because they'd never seen it before. I would say this could be improved. Pools: okay so there are 2 main pools, Tirana and blue planet. I only used blue planet but I think Tirana has all the same things as blue planet. Good size pool, pool bar in the middle. Usually can get sunloungers even after breakfast, there was only 1 day we struggled. A couple of things could be improved there is a jacuzzi section in the pool which was basically right next to the kids paddling pool but parents seemed to use the jacuzzi as the paddling pool which sort of defeated the purpose to relax. Also the pool music was at times bizarre like background house music with occasional mainstream recognisable music. I did expect some more arabic music given that we're in Egypt but there wasn't any. A big downside were the sunloungers they were super uncomfortable and loads were broken / sagging. Continued in...
