Overall, I am a fan of this place and stayed here a total of 3 times, and will definetly come back. ||I will list pros and cons and why I gave 3 stars not 5.||Pros:||- the staff is great! well trained, polite and very helpful. This is one of the best selling points for me||- the restaurant is super. All food items are delicious and the hygiene standard is good. All meats served are of top notch quality, and the morning feteer is mind blowing.||- location by the lake, and you can walk outside the property back door and stroll down a long street with many bazars and pottery shops||- property landscape and small water channels||- abundant activities to do onsite (horse back riding for 1st timers, pottery, you can make fresh butter from stratch in a small farm, make your own pita bread, etc.)||- open breath taking view from the roof on top of apartments 15 and 16 (picture attached)||- overall experience: wife and kids love this place||Cons:||- the major pain point during this stay is the location of assigned apartments. When I made the booking, I was not made aware that the 2 apartments we booked (#15 and 16) are situated on top of their in-house coffee shop that also houses shisha, and is literally on the fence of the property by the main back road and the main entrance to the property. The noise level, toktoks, honks, loud people on the street and cafe prevented us from having a good sleep at night. The reception offered us after 1 night to change rooms and pay to upgrade to a quiter location, but our whole stay was only 2 nights and we did not want to go thru the hassles of packing and unpacking twice. ||- Mosquitos control: they did place citronel spray (pocket size) in each apartment but that wasnt enough. At sunset when mosquitos are very active, I would have imagined they could light citronel candles in public areas, or fumegated before sunset||- pottery painting: it seems they outsource the service, we waited at least 30 minutes for them to bring proper colors instead of the watered-down jars of faint colors, as the guys operating this station were arguing with us that the watered down colors are good enough. Had to call the lodge reception to complain to get them moving||- wifi: really weak and useless. Even after the staff moved the wifi repeater inside our unit. What also sucks is the 4G coverage (no 5G in Egypt at time of writing this review) for Vodafone there is very poor, so you will have to toggle to 3G to get some data flowing||- Shower: floor is made of ceramic tiles which has a bit of a pattern but is a bit slippery and no safety handles on the wall to grab on||- TV remote control: minor but annoying. Battery wasnt working so had to call them in to replace.||- Check in experience: I had to wait 20 minutes in the hot and sunny parking lot waiting for their conceirge to arrive with the golf cart to pick up the luggage for our group.||Overall, I still love this place as the pros outweight the cons for us, and I believe their management beleives in continous improvement from what I have seen over my stays there over 8 years. Lesson learned for me is to ask detailed questions about the exact room locations and surroundings before booking. ||will definetly...
Read moreAs a scout leader, i always remind myself on my trips to: "take only memories, leave only footprints". Somehow this visit was different, and I managed to leave behind my heart in this small village.
Tunis Village has some unique personality to it, and kom el dikka embodies that completely. The staff here is overly nice, helpful, courteous, and kind. They go out of their way to make your experience better, and they're super honest if you ask them for a second opinion or a recommendation.
The lodge is very thoughtfully designed inside out. To give an example: the electric plugs have been placed all in the most optimal spots, and they all can handle the US style plug which is a major plus!
The restaurant is stellar and food is perfectly cooked. The farm is an amazing experience for the little ones. The playground was a pleasant surprise and even old teens enjoyed it.
Try it out at least once, I trust that you'll enjoy it as...
