DO NOT STAY HERE! This is the most appauling accommodation and staff I've ever experienced and I have travelled all over the world. The owner is a con artist. ||||When we arrived at The Hammock Plantation we were shown our room. After a short period we noticed there wasn't a ceiling nor was there a mosquito net provided. The windows had open panels so anything could get in. Also, we could hear everything from outside the room, we had no privacy and could hear people using the toilet which was absolutely vile. ||||During the night we had mice, cocroaches, spiders and all sorts crawling into our room. There was blood on our bed sheets and various other stains. The bathroom was dirty and had mould all over the shower and walls. The toilet was leaking with urine. The accommodation is behind a busy road so the noise from the vehicles and neighbours kept us awake all night.||||If you have a look at our photos you can see the amount of mosquito bites my parnter and I got from just 1 night staying there. I was sick for about 2 weeks after this. ||||When we arrived at the accommodation, we tried to amend our booking via the Booking.com app and it was rejected by the owner, so we submitted a cancellation request which was also rejected. He then used his own website (hammock plantation.com) to charge my card although at the property it states you can only pay in cash or bitcoin.||||When we spoke with him about our booking, he was incredibly rude and hostile. Due to the misleading photos of the property, we advised him we would only stay 1 night but wanted our money back for next 2 nights. He said we can have 50% of the booking back but we are still waiting for him to refund the 50%. ||||Avoid this property and the owner...
Read moreAn awesome, relaxing and peaceful place to spend a few days or longer. The family who own this hostel are super friendly, kind and really make sure you have a great stay. We only intended to stay for one night but ended up there for three. We spent the first night in a private room and the second two in our van in the front garden. They also have space for tents in the shade and a dormroom for four people. While in our van, the family ensured we were connected to a fan to keep cool and even put a gazebo over the top to provide shade. The coast of El Salvador is very hot and humid but Hammock Plantation has a lovely swimming pool which is perfect for cooling off in. The outdoor area is shaded by lots of mango trees and when the mangos fall you are welcome to eat them. They also have a kitchen which you are free to use, a book swap and lots of hammocks for relaxing in. There is a small store down the road and also people often drive past selling groceries. The beach with a few restaurants is less than a five minute walk away and there are some cool salt pools on the beach which are free to use. The owners also order in pupusas in the evening which are only 50c each and very delicious. They also offer a laundry service in a washing machine and have beers and soft drinks in the fridge. Can't recommend this...
Read moreThis is a hostel, like the kind I used to stay in when I was young travelling across Europe. Its perfect for.meeting young travelers. When I was there one traveller was crossing central america on his motorcycle and another on his bike. The others were mostly young budget travelers. The owners are friendly, fun, and seem happy to give advice. There was aleays al the foffee i could drink in the morning. There are 4 bunks to a room with clean linens. Shower is cold water. Felt safe. Beautiful jungle gsrden and pool. I really liked the short walk to the beach every m9rning where I would be served a grrat breakfast (huevos rancheros) with instant coffee at tables on the sand ($6.50). The sand is muddy dark, but soft, and surround by picturesque cliffs. No tourists on beach when I was there. My only complaint is that Uber didn't serve the area most of the time so you have to wait on the nearby highway for the various busses and vans of you want a more active beach, but buses all cost $1.50 or less. Apparently it's also safe and easy to tickmouy your thimb hitch a ride on the highway, make sure the plate says...
