My husband, my babyboy (4 months at that time) and me stayed in Esencia Nativa for a month and we loved it! It’s a super relaxed place, all the staff is amazingly friendly and helpful. Before we arrived in Salvador Alex gave us all information we needed for the trip with our baby (whole new experience 🙈). When we arrived, Alex already built a tripod to hang our baby swing (he just did it, we didn’t ask him to do it). He will help you with everything and always finds quick solutions! Besides that he was super sweet with our baby and entertained our son, so we could have a relaxed dinner, which was amazing 😄 Our babyboy absolutely fell in love with Alex 🥰 the rooms are super clean, as the lovely cleaning ladies offer room service every day. Also the food is amazing, especially the Veggie Pesto Pizza 🙌 we really felt like family, cause everyone (kitchen Staff, Waitresses..) are doing their job with big heart. And Tiko is the man who has everything under control, you can ask him any favour and he will be happy to help you with a smile on his face 😄 Last but not least: Thanks Nette for the fun Surf lessons and for your calm and encouraging way of teaching! If you hesitate to give surfing a go: do it with Nette, you will feel safe and have a lot of fun!
We miss the whole team and El Zonte in general and hope to see you all again ♥️♥️♥️

Read moreWow, none of us had ever had such a complete and thoughtful lesson in surfing. All of us at one time or another had lessons in surf spots around the world and none of us felt afterwards that we were able to surf even though we might, for one instance have the pose of a surfer and had that fleeting profile shot. ||||With Alex and his crew we had a strong theory class for about an hour then headed into the wash to practice the basic skills on a moving board. Each of us had our own assistant to help with the board in the water and get set up for the ride. I’ve never been so successful before nor built confidence and skills for the real waves. All the while our instructor on the shore watching and giving feedback. We were excited everyday to get boards and practice without being beaten and battered by the surf. We took the follow up lessons and some took level 3 “wave theory” which really gives you the knowledge you need to read the rollers. ||||All our crew, close to 20 of us, agreed this was the best instruction we had ever had, and i am eager for more. ||||Oh ya the foods pretty good to, but I only stayed a night in a simple room so cant say much...
Read moreThis is as good as it gets in terms of hostel standards. I read a lot of the comments on Google before booking and all I can say - for anyone wanting a bougier hotel experience, your own privacy/seclusion, or a getaway - that’s not what a hostel is! Book up the road at more luxury places.
Esencia was top notch, had incredible customer service, hot water in the shower (albeit quite low pressure), flushable toilets, comfortable bed, all rooms with AC, daily room service to clean the room/change your towels (I believe sheets remained), outdoor changing and showering stations after surfing/swimming, incredibly easy dining situation with billing directly to room & free breakfast 7-11AM. All in all, this is a surfers hostel dream - affordable, beautiful location, VERY friendly staff. They also offer airport transport for ~$50 each way.
Yes there is sometimes some noise but that’s what you get when you’re right on the beach and in the “action of El Zonte”. I never had an issue with it, almost everything is quiet by around 9:30PM with an occasional beach party.
I’d highly recommend esencia nativa and would...
