We stayed there because there were no rooms available in Mangrove Bay Hotel and the staff in Mangrove Bay Hotel told me that this hotel was newly open. The hotel did look new but the service was really bad. We went to the Nan Madol, came back to the room all sweaty and dirty at 4pm, room was not serviced and no clean towels to take shower. We spoke to the front desk and they said they were short staff and would try to send someone soon. We waited for 15 to 20 minutes still no one came to service the room. We wanted to take shower, go out to visit some other places and had no time to keep waiting. There were clean towels in the hallway service cart, so we went ahead put our dirty towels in their dirty linen bag and took some clean towels so we can take shower. We also wanted to tell them to forget about servicing the room. Next thing you know, a staff came to our room and was angry yelling what were we doing and they saw us taking towels from the cart via camera. So, he proceeded to count the towels as if we were stealing their towels. We told them the dirty towels was in the dirty linen bag outside. I was so pissed and went to the reception to speak to the manager. There was this guy who kept arguing that we should not do that, we should wait for housekeeping. I asked to speak to the manager and this same guy claimed no manager on duty that day. Then He disappeared into the office for a minute, came out claiming that he was the manager which was really bizarre. This same guy kept arguing and will not apologize. I told him adamantly that if the room was being serviced, I would not have to go look for clean towels myself and it was unreasonable that the room was not serviced at 4pm since we left the room early in the morning. I told him that it was so disgusting that your staff treated us like we were thieves trying to steal your dirty filthy towels. This same guy was reluctant to apologize and kept arguing with me and said they were short staff and made me felt like it was our fault not to wait for housekeeping. Finally, I have had enough of his ridicule and told him to forget about any room service. I strongly recommend not to stay in this place unless you want to be insulted and treated like a thief.||||The morning that we checked out, is was raining heavily and the ceiling light fixture was leaking heavily down to the coffee pot. We told the front desk and they did not...

Read moreI have come to Pohnpei for business twice this year so far, for 4 weeks Jan/Feb, and then back for 6 weeks in March/April. This second visit I have chosen to stay for 6 weeks at Island Palms after spending time looking at all the accommodation options available. Staying here has been great experience. All the staff members are friendly and go out of their way to assist you in every way they can. The rooms are really clean, quite and spacious, with great showers, a coffee makers, a desk and depending on which side of the building your room is located, a small balcony with chairs and table. The restaurant is fine with a reasonable selection of food, and it serves alcohol. The WiFi is as good as any given the poor telecom infrastructure in FSM. The hotel is close supermarkets, atms, Telecom and other restaurants and cafes. The hotel definitely represents value for money and offers a 10% discount to guests staying more than 3 days. I thoroughly recommend Island Palms and a big thanks to Carolyn and all staff. i will...
