Krapi — Hotel in Helsinki sub-region

Krapi Hotel is much better than its name might suggest (in English). We stayed in the cabin with a private sauna, which was a fantastic choice. The cabin is very private, spacious, and offers a gorgeous view of the lake. The bed is comfortable, and the double shower after the sauna is definitely a plus. The only downside is the air conditioning, which is quite loud and doesn’t seem to work very well.

Breakfast was generous and delicious. The surroundings are beautiful, with some charming small museums nearby and lovely forest trails, although a significant portion has been cleared for golf courses. Unfortunately, the lake was full of algae, making it uninviting and not recommended for swimming. This isn’t the hotel’s fault, but it’s a shame and likely a common issue in summer.

The specific cabin we stayed in is a 12-minute walk from the reception, so it’s better to have a car if you have heavy bags (first stop at the reception, then the cabin). Uber picked us up without any problems for a short ride back to...

This is really a nice place in a picturesque setting. Although close to the main road between two Helsinki suburbs (which provide limited atmosphere) you stay here in a landscape and setting of old farm buildings, which provides you with the Nordic scenic atmosphere visitors are longing for. Take a room with view to the golf course. (Not really a lot of golfers in the hotel by the way.) I would recommend this for summer - terrace and beer garden are nice. And you can borrow a bike and cycle the scenic road through nice grand houses close to the lake Tuusula up towards Ainola house or Jäärvenpä. We also enjoyed the free coffee and tea throughout...

Hotel Krapi is just one of the amenities at a 100 year old estate. Among amenities are a 18 hole golf course, a "savu sauna" for guests on a lake, summer theatre, concert facilities, conference rooms and last, but not least a beautiful restaurant at the former main building offering delicious traditional foods both a la carte or buffet style meals. I was lucky enough to be able to sample all the delicious fish dishes, soups, home baked breads, and desserts with their own selection of white wines.
