Well this was a big dissapointment..
Room wasnt cleaned or dusted in forever, there was something spilled on the floor right next to the bed, that l dont want to even start identifying. There were clusters of dust everywhere on the floor, spilled coffee grains by window, spider webs and crumbs everywhere..
The room looked different than the pictures online when booking, it was very small with one chair and tiny corner table, which forced us to eat breakfast on the bed. There was only a clothes hanger by the door and no hallway to leave our luggage, shoes and coats in (pain in winter when you arrive covered in snow). Bathroom was to our surprise old (this wouldn't be a problem, but all pictures online showed new modern bathrooms). AC unit was mounted on the wall right next to the beds and when on, kept blowing air right on your head when you were laying down. (We had to turn it off for the night because of it.) Room also had no curtains. (Judging from the pictures online, it looked like it maybe once used to have then. Thankfully we travelled in winter and not during the summer.) This all would have been ok IF the room was at least CLEANED. Especially considering the place had only 6 rooms.
Breakfast was ready made in the fridge and seemed fresh, but it was very small (one small square bread with ham, cheese and some vegetables). Breakfast was also missing parts that were listed online, that it includes (no boiled egg, fresh juice or biscuit). Cubes of butter in the fridge were all past expiry date.. There were also no small spoons for the joghurts/ coffee and no butter knife. Fridge was loud and very small (we hoped to put in it some food we carried in the cooler box, but it barely fitted the small breakfast that was in there..).
Worst part was the noise.. This twin room was advertised as silent and the first sentence on the booking website reads, and I quote,: "This twin room has a soundproofing..". The doors were paper thin and you could hear ALL the traffic in the hallway - chatter, stomps from footsteps on the wooden floor and luggage dragged over the planks.. You could also hear loud laughter and dogs barking from the rooms nearby. On top of that, I was pleasantly woken up by another guest arriving in the middle of the night, dragging the bag and talking loudly in the hallway. Can't say I slept more than 2h.
Calling this place a hotel is way too generous. Do...

Read moreDisclaimer: I'm not much into birdwatching but I enjoy natural scenery, peaceful sites, and outdoors.||||Decided to check out the place once I was near by. It was easy to come by bike. You can cycle from Oulu (or Liminka, or Lumijoki) vi cycling paths separated from the roads. June is probably quiet time since the migration season has not yet started. I very much enjoyed the exhibition inside.||||For me, the birdwatching tower was impressive. Also the path telling how the shoreline has shifted during the past centuries was a nice detail. The restaurant was pretty poor. Maybe during the high seasons the quality is better. ||||After visiting Hailuoto I was not so much impressed about the site itself but I understand that the value of the place is to observe the birds during the...
