Punkaharju Resort — Hotel in Savonlinna sub-region

Punkaharju Resort is located in a beautiful area with a huge lake and forrest around. There’s a restaurant (Pavilijonki) that serves good food (was surprised!). We rented a 2-person economy cabin with shared toilets and shower facilities for 3 nights. There’s an equipment rental place closeby (Harjun Portti) for bikes, kayaks, SUP boards, which was handy and friendly.||||The economy cabin in itself is quite cute and ok for 2 people for a short stay, with 2 separate beds, a fridge & a microwave. BUT the beds are incredibly uncomfortable, literally a wooden box with a thin mattress on it. Both our backs hurt immensly the day after and the sleep wasn’t very comfortable or calm. As we stayed 3 nights we added on own sleeping mats etc under the mattress and it improved slightly. Also the fridge is very loud, so prepare to have ear plugs in. Summarizing, I wouldn’t recommend these cabins if you want a good nights sleep or have back problems. We were literally counting the days to leave to a better place after the first night. Note: Can’t speak for the other cabins that look nice and big.||||The shared toilet and bathroom facilities are clean in general but very wet, moist and slippery, there’s only a few toilets (2) and showers (3) in one of the shared buildings. They’re all in the same one small room so there’s a lot of lines & waiting at certain hours. Also the design is not the best as you will literally stand naked beside the door that gets opened up all the time and people can look into the showers when it’s open. The ambience of the place is what I liked the most here. A bit away from the highway by the lake amid the picturesque landscape of Punkaharju, the resort is among the perfect places if you are looking for a place to unwind. The Punkaharju ridge and the nature trails in Lusto area are just a few kilometres away - you can either walk or rent a bike from the reception. To be noted, the options for rental bikes are limited. Most of them are ordinary bikes with foot brakes which I wouldn't prefer riding given the hilly terrain of the area. Apart from this, one can participate in a number of leisurely activities. The resort also has an aquatic park and rope park close by. For food you can visit their restaurant or even cook in the kitchen if you are camping. Talking of camping, they have quite a large area for pitching tent or parking caravan. Other options to stay include cottages. I stayed in one of the small economy cottages with two beds. It was decently size with a refrigerator and a microwave a couple of chairs outside. Given the size of the cottage it does not include any closet but has a shelf to keep stuffs. One downside of the economy cottages is that it can get warm during summers and there are no fans. Also the rent doesn't include bed linens. Ei rauhaa rakastavalle - not for peace loving||Ensimmäistä ( ja viimeistä) kertaa huone luhtitalo Topeliuksessa kahdeksi yöksi. Oikein siisti ja hienon näköinen huone omalla saunalla. Mutta se oli aikamoinen pettymys, että Luhtitalo Topeliuksen huoneiston patio avautuu muutaman metrin päässä olevalle minigolf-radalle. Tätä kun ei ole Luhtitalo Topeliuksen mainoskuvissa näytetty. Omalla patiolla ei kärsinyt istua ja nauttia illasta, koska ensin minigolfia pelaavien koira oli viereiseen puuhun kiinnitettynä ja haukkui siinä 1,5 tuntia. Sen jälkeen ravintolassa trubaduuri lauleskeli iltakymmeneen käyttäen äänenvahvistinta. Saimme myös naapuriin myös terassitupakoitsijan, jolta tupakansavu sitten muillekin terasseille levisi. |Patioilla on muovirottinkiset puutarhatuolit. Tuoleista lähtee kova ärsyttävä ääni, kun ihmiset siirtävät tuoleja raahaten niitä pitkin pation laudoidusta ( voisihan tuolin myös nostaa vai mitä?). Tai terassikalustevalinta oli väärä. |Topeliuksen huonehinnat ovat kuitenkin sen verran kalliita, että olisi luullut, että talon olisi voinut sijoittaa omalle rauhallisemmalle alueelle, eikä keskelle camping-aluetta ja muita mökkejä!||First ( and the last) time for two nights in Topelius. Such a beautiful and clean room with own sauna and patio! |But it was such a dissappointment that just opposite your own patio there is a minigolftrack. I did not see any picture about this at Punkaharju resort-web pages. |First evening we could not enjoy staying at our patio, because there was a minigolfplayer’s dog barking for 1,5 hours while they were playing. After that a trubadur was singing loud at the nearby restaurant till 22 clock. |The chairs on the patio make awfull noise when people in your neighbour drag the chairs instead of lifting them. We also had a smoker next to our patio. So other quests could freely enjoy the cigarette smoke!|Topelius rooms are so expensive that it is strange that the Topelius house could not have placed to a more peaceful place than among everything other, like camping and...
