It's an interesting place and it's hard to judge.
They advertise themselves as a hostel, but the rooms are of much higher standard than you could expect from a typical backpacker's place.
The rooms are very comfy, even smaller ones are of a decent size and bigger ones are really big. The toilets and shower rooms are shared, but clean and easily accessible. There is also some common area with the kitchnette, I think, we didnt' used. One of the rooms we had had some basic facilities like microwave and kettle, table, chairs and everything. Even the smaller room had mini-sink.
The building seems to be originally not designed as a hotel, so the rooms have strange feel of them - one of the rooms had only windows up high right under the ceilings. The other had no windows at all which didn't bothered us, as it was greatly ventilated and we had really good nights sleep, but it would be worth to mention it to warn some people with claustrophobia.
The location was perfect, just in the very centre of town with easy access to all facilities, and yet quiet. And the parking spot right in the the yard, also with good information on alternative free parking in the area was also a very nice touch.
For the price I think it was a very great place to stay for the...
Read moreWe spent three nights in Savonlinna Rentals. It’s an excellent base from which to explore. Their website has plenty of additional information about the area and practical advice about parking etc.||Easy contactless check in. The whole interior was virtually new. Excellent Wi-Fi. Two washing machines, two showers and three WCs shared between ten rooms. This was fine in practice. Some of the rooms have kitchens, otherwise there’s a shared kitchen with everything you might need. ||There was a bit of a muck up with our booking, as the twin room we reserved had been remodelled as a single room after we’d booked. This meant a fold away bed on our first night and two different rooms in the other two nights. Bit of a pain packing and unpacking all the time but the owner made it as painless as possible for us and they were both nicer rooms than the one we’d booked so no...
Read moreAll the communication with Jartsi was fantastic, the location is central and under 5min walk from train station. Check in is easy via a series of codes and key boxes (just make sure you get instruction on English if you don’t understand Finnish), the bed comfortable (I was in a small room with a single bed). Washing machine and kitchen available to guests are great. One small issue was sound, the room I was in must have been facing a ventilation as there was noise through the night. I still slept fine with earplugs. Ah yes, best...
