Hotelli Aittaranta is located in the city center of Uusikaupunki, on the shore of the city bay. All rooms have sea view or more precisely city bay view. There are several good restaurants next to the hotel and walking distance to many attractions is short. The biggest playground of Uusikaupunki (Leijonapuisto) is also situated only 100 meters from the hotel. Besides, there is plenty of free parking space next to the hotel. You couldn't find better location in Uusikaupunki.||The hotel consists of an old main building (built in the 1920s, I guess), which is an old salt warehouse, and two new deck-access buildings, which have exterior corridors (built in 2018) and look almost like old buildings from outside. However, inside our standard room looked brand new. Cafe Aitta, which operates as a reception and as a breakfast room, is located in the main building. Special rooms (33 square meters, also known as suites or quadruple rooms) are located upstairs in the main building. ||All other rooms (23.5 square meters) are located in new buildings and every room has an own entrance. Rooms at street level have an own terrace (a patio) and rooms on floor 1 (or in Finland we say floor 2) have a French balcony. There are stairs to the floor 1 (no elevator). All rooms have a self adjustable air-conditioning machine, a microwave oven and a fridge but the fridge was so noisy that we had to turn off the power. After that our sleep quality was very good although we heard some music from nearby restaurants. It may disturb a bit more in special rooms, I think. The air-conditioning system seemed to be quite good. After we turned it up to full power, the temperature of our room was only 18 degrees Celsius (outdoor temperature 21 degrees). Two standard rooms on floor 1 have a tiny electric sauna. Superior rooms (at street level) have a kettle, a tableware and a washing machine. For long-term accommodation the hotel has apartments which are situated at a different address.||The breakfast buffet was ok but nothing special. I loved fresh fruits. It was wonderful to eat breakfast on the glazed terrace and watch the city bay view. An outdoor terrace was also available.||This small hotel (only 16 rooms) is very cozy and one of the best hotels I have stayed in a long time. I really can recommend...
Read moreAittaranta is very well situated in Uusikaupunki, with restaurants and the marina right next to it. We stayed in a "superior" room with patio, it was really nice and clean. Since all rooms have their own entrances the hotel is well suited for traveling with dogs. The provided cutlery and glassware were just bare essentials but the staff provided more to match your needs. The patio was a nice addition. The staff was super friendly and everything functioned well. The breakfast is standard hotel stuff but everything tasted good. The cooling system in the room was a bit baffling since the instructions were missing, it had a long delay but with patience everything turned out really well. The beds were really good, we slept exceptionally well! Four stars since the value for money was not all that exceptional, only one key was provided, the shower sprinkled water all over the bathroom, the seating area comprised of only one lounge chair and no table (do you really need a drawer desk, who writes letters nowadays?), and while the hotel was basically dog-friendly, there was nothing for the dog, just the additional charge. I'd be happy to pay triple the charge if there was a water bowl, maybe some poo bags and an extra (non-white) towel. Maybe collaboration with the local pet shop would provide cost-effective ways of doing this? Overall, very happy...
Read moreReally nice place to stay. Quirky in being different to the norm. Newly built place. Rooms are in a block next to cafe that provides breakfast. Sounds a bit different, but dont be put off. The rooms are new & really nice with new bathrooms. It is right next to the river with 4 -5 restaurants along riverside. 2 mins walk. Room was 100 Euro for the night, so I felt maybe slightly over priced, but choice in that region is not the best. so i was happy with the rate. I stayed mid May & weather was 25 degrees! - in Finland! So it was like heaven eating at restaurant with riverside outdoor seating. Breakfast was next door & good and service really friendly. Definitely...
