Read moreLe Refuge is truly magical. For anyone who loves nature/mountains at their best, for anyone who loves skiing or just one of the best hospitality experiences in the world - Le Refuge is for you. They have managed to create a haven of luxury and comforts - a spectacular spa, dining experience and rooms with massive windows, insane views and the best modern amenities in a place that canât even be reached by foot or vehicles. Truly a refuge from ordinary life. This is not even mentioning that Val dâisere is by far one of the best places to ski as some of the most passionate skiers would agree. Unlike Courchevel or other tourist heavy destinations -30,000 skiers hit the slopes in this town of 900 to seriously ski the incredible slopes. The culture is not pretentious and showing off but down to earth, serious skiing and love for nature.
I want to make a special mention of the staff who are all extremely passionate about you having a great experience, I donât know how Le Refuge finds these amazing folks. From Eliot and Jade the butlers, to Leo and Gabriel (? / the Canadian boy)at the ski room who are full of advice and support to ensure you get the best equipment and ski experience, to Xavier at the restaurant and many others whose names I am missing - itâs an incredible family like team. Le Refuge is now a necessary part of my life - I will...
Read moreReally disappointed! The hotel, the view and the facilities are all beyond amazing. But the service, management and staff is a big disappointment!
Firstly, we were expecting the hotel to pick us up from the meeting point at 9 am however no one showed up. So we asked our previous hotel to contact them again to send us a porter for our luggage.
We asked for ski passes however no one got them and we had to purchase ski passes downstairs in order to reach the hotel.
Breakfast does not have many options. Moreover, you cannot order eggs a la carte. There is only an option to make your own boiled eggs! This is the first time I see this in a five star hotel. Moreover, there was only one waiter around who was very obnoxious and unhelpful at all! He had a very bad attitude.
We asked for a later checkout but we were only given until 11 am!
Finally, the hotel receptionist kept giving us excuses when we asked for a lift in their car from the hotel to the telephrique since we had some bags to take. Still they kept on giving us excuses as the âcarâ is for the luggage. Also note that I have seen guests descending from it the day before.
Definitely not a 5 star level and not matching the value...
