We stayed here 1 night last year and enjoyed it so much that we returned this summer for 3 nights.
The campsite is divided into 2 sections that are separated by a small public beach access road. Last year we were in the 'overflow' section which still has good access to the public beach and exactly the same pitch sizes and facilities. This year we were in the main section closer to the campsite's private beach and the pool, which we did enjoy more.
For us, the true highlights of this campsite are the pool (with lazy river and waterslides), the location right on the lake at the most beautiful point (Doussard), and the outstanding cleanliness of the facilities. Pitches are a decent size, even if there isn't much space between the pitches, so who your neighbours are would matter. For the most part, campers are families with children and many are regulars year after year. Our kids had a great time in the pool, at the multi sports pitch, and swimming in the lake - we didn't use the kids club. And one of our favourite rituals was being at the lake for early mornings and sunsets, just enjoying the totally stunning views.
I highly recommend renting bikes from K2 in Doussard nearby and making use of the traffic free bike path that runs all along the west side of the lake up to Annecy itself. I can also recommend visiting the paragliding launch up in Col de la Forclaz, and taking a little bit longer of a drive to Col des Aravis for stunning views of Mont Blanc. There is so so much to explore nearby that you could spend a lot of time here.
Good to remember that Albertville (a major city) is nearby and often easier to access from Doussard than being in traffic...
Read moreWe had a really good time here and will definitely be back, the location is perfect for enjoying the lake and the staff are really lovely and helpful. We did find though that there was genuinely a real lack of reliable power supply as did our neighbours, the waste disposal is positioned in a terrible place and costs every camper several minutes of their stay as they hike to the bins because the convenience is for the collection of the waste company with no thought for the guest (something I could solve in a few minutes for them). I literally stood in the shower and said to myself I am going to get a Verruca in here and today I realised on the longest hike of my whole life that I have a Verruca! I am super hygienic and haven't had one of those in over 30 years....not happy and no doubt in my mind it came from that shower floor. Road noise is kind of a problem depending on your pitch and your personal fussiness and camp set up. Waste water drop off is awful and positioned poorly so your waste water runs into the drain in the foot path or as we found on second go if the foot path drain is blocked your waste water runs down the entire camp site path.....very lucky it was all hand washing water because the washing up facilities are excellent. Fresh water fill up is positioned in such a weird and unhygienic place I don't get it, just put 2 x taps on the left and right not in the middle. So a real mixed bag but none the less a special little place but just needs a little maintenance to match the high quality of the staff...
Read moreWe spent a week in one of the duplex apartments - family of four with two teenage boys. The accommodation was basic, but spacious, clean and comfortable.
The campsite’s location is excellent, right on the waters edge. Cycle path, kayaking, beach all on the doorstep.
The campsite’s beach isn’t great - very narrow, stoney and mostly occupied by those whose pitches and mobile homes are on the edge. I actually felt like I was encroaching on their space. The public beach the other side of the campsite is nicer. And there are even nicer ones a 10 minute drive away.
The campsite itself looks quite good for young kids. For my teenagers and for us adults, there wasn’t anything really to entertain other than a couple of ping pong tables and a small sports court. The pool is pretty small - again probably good for little ones but not appealing to older kids and adults.
We didn’t go to the restaurant. It doesn’t have great reviews and there are other restaurants with good reviews within walking distance.
One other thing to mention is the WiFi is non-existent, even in ‘zone 1’ by reception area. At no point could any of us get on it. And my husband also had a problem getting consistent...
