We spent three awesome days just after Christmas 2024 in Paris.
Arrival: We - 2 adults and 2 kids - arrived by train from Germany and took from Gare du Nord the train to Rueil Malmaison. A a short 4 minute walk to the hotel and a quick check-in, we were surprised to find a wonderfully decorated room, creating a true Christmas feeling incl. some small gifts. They cant be doing this all the time and since we were just expecting a decent room, this was a true surprise. The room wasnt too large but had an awesome double bed and two separate beds for the kids. But even those beds -I didnt check whether they were extended sofas - were comfortable that as an adult I wouldnt have minded sleeping on them.
Hotel: Next to the reception, there is a pool table and we did play pool quite a bit - that was nice. The breakfast is pretty good - a little more variety would have been nicer, but overall it was good. My favourite was the juice. The staff at the hotel were really friendly and helpful during the stay. The check-in / check-out was very fast and easy. (We saw that the hotel is also dog-friendly as there were some families with their dog. We however hadnt taken our dog along, as we didnt want to walk all day in the city with our dog.)
On the last day, we checked-out and headed out to the train station. While we were boarding the train, the hotel called and informed us that our kids had left some stuff in the locker. As we didnt have enough time to return to the hotel, the staff suggested to return these items by mail. So this worked out really well that the staff helped to send back the items. Thats great additional service that the staff showed us here!
Location: Rueil Malmaison is on the outer border of zone 3 of the train map - meaning it is not city centre but at the same time not too far away. We were in the city below 30 mins, which was totally fine as we left after breakfast and returned in the evening. Since the area around the hotel is sort of a business and office area, there are quite a number of restauarants around the hotel. However, as it was Christmas, most of them were closed when we were there. We then ended up two times at the pizza and burger station between the hotel and the train station and we really liked it!
We highly recommend Novotel Rueil Malmaison for a...
Read moreI’ve already stayed at this hotel for a few times in the past and this week I stayed there again. Same is true for some of my professional colleagues - our company office is nearby. At the end of 3 days we all agreed about the poor experience:
cleaning: a lot of dust in the coffee/team shelfs (easy to see because of lamp above the shelf. The waste bin toilet had waste from previous customer (forgotten). Disgusting 😫! breakfast: enough variety, but also experienced the same cleanliness issue. The plate taken from the self (below buffet balcony) and also dirty with dry/ sticked scrap of food from ineffective hand or machine washing. dinner experience: poor service (had to call/ ask several times) to get everyone’s request to serve drinks and snacks - for an informal happy hour with 15 hotel guests from same group. Then, also faced the same issue to set a table for dinner (existing tables not accommodating 7 people).
It was one situation after the other that made me publish this critic. I’m usually a high rate giver. This is more a heads-up and constructive critic to the management to try to figure out what happened in this specific week or month as several people in different categories of service not doing their job.
On a positive comment, though I hadn’t time to enjoy I appreciated the fun spirit offer improvement with games, bikes and special places for...
Read moreWe had a very distressing experience during our recent stay at Novotel Paris Rueil-Malmaison. On the night of our arrival, the lock on our hotel room door broke, trapping all of our belongings inside. Despite repeated requests for assistance, the hotel failed to resolve the issue until 4:30 AM.This created a major problem for our family. I had to wait until the middle of the night to change my contact lenses and take my medication, which had been locked in the room. We were traveling with children, and one of them had to be woken up at 6:00 AM to shower and change clothes before our scheduled activities—after an almost sleepless night. We received no meaningful apology or real compensation from the hotel. The night manager told us that a free breakfast and €40 worth of points was “the best they could do.” We ended up canceling all of our plans for the following day because we were simply too exhausted. The staff showed little empathy or urgency throughout the incident. The lack of basic service and care was truly disappointing. The only positive part of this experience was the excellent customer support from Trip.com, who stepped in to help and eventually issued us credits equal to the value of a refund. Unfortunately, the hotel itself failed to take real...
