Let's go step be step:
The rooms The rooms are nice, adequately spaced, they are clean (or at least felt clean) and have really Nothing much to complain.
They serve their purpose quite acceptably without going overboard. One note to complain Is that the lighting doesn't Always make sense but that's basically irrelevant.
If you expect a bidet in the bathroom, don't.
The breakfast Breakfast Is also Ok with Nothing particularly bad or good about It. Kind of barebones (there Is no buffet, you Simply ask the waiter What you would like) but It does serve the purpose and everything tasted good.
The service The main challenge of my stay was the language barrier.
As an Italian who does not speak French, I rely on English for international travel. During my interactions, I found that the staff I dealt with did not speak English, which made communication very difficult. We often struggled to understand each other, which led to some frustrating moments.
If you do not speak French, I highly recommend having a translation app ready on your phone to ensure a smoother experience. This is not a complaint about the staff's kindness, but a practical warning for future non-French-speaking guests about the significant communication issues you might face.
The price The price felt high overall but I am not experienced enough to give a Fair judgement.
Final judgement I don't expect to ever wish to return here, It was a decent experience ruined by...
Read moreAubusson in the Creuse region of France has been famous for the manufacture of tapestries, an industry which still exists today, since the 15 century. The Cite de Tapisserie is an extraordinary museum well worth a visit.||||But this review is not about that. If you go to Aubusson on a Monday be prepared to find almost all forms of commerce including food outlets and restaurants closed. Aubusson normally a bustling place was like a ghost town when we arrived. So we ended up at the restaurant of the Hotel de France for dinner.||||At first glance it too looked as though it was shut but once through the sliding doors we were conducted to table in a lovely open air courtyard complete with fountain at the rear of the building - delightful. We opted for the fixed price menu of Terrine du chef, guinea fowl followed by a cottage cheese with lentils for partner and filet minion followed by almond cake and crème anglaise for me. This was a wonderful meal impeccably served by a team of very well turned out young waiters and waitresses. The presentation of each dish made the ensemble look so appetising and mouth-watering. French cuisine at its best! Thank you Hotel de France for making our Monday in Aubusson a...
Read moreI went to the Hitel de France on 17th November, it was taking part in the 2 for 1 week. For a week restaurants, hotels etc can participate in this deal, and it's a really good way to try some where new at an excellent price. The menu was for three courses, and there was an aperitif before the entree, and another small 'taster' |between the entree and the plat, on this occasion it was a small glass with apple purée and chataigne liqueur, which was wonderful. The meal was excellent, and so was the wine! The staff were attentive but not hovering around, and the chef came out to ask if everything was good. The atmosphere was extremely pleasant and relaxing, and the hotel was quite traditional, which is what we like. I'm pretty sure that staying in the hotel would be a really good experience, sadly we don't live far enough away to make that necessary, but I could be tempted! Will be be going back, most definitely, it's a good hours drive from us, but definitely...
