If you’re driving back from Paris to Calais and need/want to break the journey up you might choose to stop in Beauvais. If you do and you then need/want an all-singing all dancing hotel this is NOT the place for you - it’s basically just a series of cube-style rooms spread over 3 floors reached via an external staircase, each with a small toilet/shower room and a mix of single, double and bunk beds. It’s cheap and it knows you know it. No frills here - no play area, no gym or pool; the kids were annoyed after being spoiled by Disney hotels but if you’re only there from 10pm - 8am you surely don’t need all that. Think cheap American roadside motel and you get the picture. Bottom line is that it was fine. Just fine. Not amazing, not terrible, just fine. Comfortable beds, TV in each room, staff who speak English if you need it, breakfast for an extra €5, and presumably a discount for builders, given that pretty much every other guest drove a white van. Only downside was that despite booking several months ahead we couldn’t get rooms next door to each other, which meant the kids were at one end of the top floor and we were at the other, which did nothing for the wife’s nerves. Personally I was glad of the...
Read moreIf you are driving back from Paris to Calais or down from Calais to Paris, this is a great location for a stopover with a good choice of adjacent restaurants. We knew it was budget hotel having paid under 50 euros including breakfast for two so maybe we had low expectations, but the hotel really surprised me. Admittedly, the room and bathroom were small however the beds were reasonably comfortable, the bedding and towels were clean, and we had a quiet night's sleep. The air conditioning in the room was excellent, in fact the BEST we had out to the 3 hotels we used whilst in France this August. The shower was excellent with loads of hot water. We have stayed at motels/hotels like this one in Beauvais many times on our way down (or up) from relatives near Toulouse and would recommend this Premiere Classe as it has good, basic rooms for the night and is a perfect stop off to break the journey.||The only staff member we met was at breakfast and he seemed friendly and was happy to try and speak a little English to go with our not too good French.||||As a result, based on value for money, I must...
Read moreWe booked late in the evening as our previous booking had been cancelled on us, when we arrived it was late and no one around. While doing the check in at the machine my son heard screams. Didn’t think much of it, thought it was someone messing, maybe just drunk. When walking up the stairs there was a man holding a door while a woman on the other side was crying and screaming. He was banging the door and kept opening it to hit her. We obviously didn’t feel comfortable staying so didn’t even get to the room, as they was in the room between our two of four rooms booked. I tried to contact the property but all I got was an answer machine. No security on either. We ended up going miles up the road and had to stay in a car park on a toll road. My sisters younger son was sick on himself through fear, and we haven’t even had an apology from the property let alone a refund. I’ve never been so scared, it was like something...
