My wife and I arrived at the Westin Bora Bora on 9-12-25 to celebrate our 9th wedding anniversary. We were greeted at Papeete Airport by Westin staff and promptly boarded onto a boat for the resort.|The check-in process was efficient and we enjoyed the pool until our room was ready.||Blandine from Guest Services was amazing. We met her at the dock when we arrived and she gave us a tour of the premises. She was attentive to our questions and gave us a great deal of information pertaining to the property as well as the island. Throughout our seven day stay, we saw Blandine at various locations at the Westin, she was always smiling, friendly and asking us if we needed anything. Her customer service was top notch.||Our over water bungalow was more than could be expected. We were welcomed with a bottle of champagne along with some snacks provided by guest services. There were beautiful flowers throughout the room and bed. The view was breathtaking and truly a sight to see. The only area for improvement was the bathroom vanity lighting was too dim for makeup and the sliding door lock did not work consistently.||The pool bar included a swim up area for drinks and food. During our weeklong stay I was very impressed by pool bar staff ,Jasmina, Alan, Teamo & Tiere for their attentiveness, personality and welcoming persona. We spent a great deal of time at the pool and enjoyed many cocktails and some pizzas and hamburgers. My only suggestion is to play music consistently for ambiance. A good music selection played throughout the day would be awesome.||We had the breakfast buffet every morning at the Tipanier. Upon being seated you are able to order an omelet or fried eggs from your server before embarking onto the buffet. The buffet was decadent with pastries, breads, cheeses, deli meats, bacon, sausages, potatoes, French toast, pancakes , assorted juices and too many more to list. Breakfast was by far our best meal every day!||Throughout our stay we had dinner once at Tipanier, four times at Vara Vara and room service twice. I read a lot of reviews leading up to our trip indicating the food could be better. At the Tipanier, the Mahi Mahi was bland and too soggyt and the tenderloin had no flavor. After our first meal at the Tipanier we canceled additional reservations.||Of the four nights we ate at Vara Vara they did not have short ribs on three nights. On our anniversary night the two entrees we wanted off the menu were not available( short ribs and swordfish) which was disappointing. Their ribeye steak was great also the hamburgers and pizzas. I would like to see other potato options instead French fries especially when having a nice steak dinner. I’d also recommend they dim their lights during dinner service they were too bright taking away from ambiance. We had two great servers which were Mary Vonne and Raina. Both were attentive and friendly and gave us suggestions for meals.|Tevaiarii Vane also seated us twice at Vara Vara and remembered our names and where we were from. In my opinion, the food definitely needs improvement. I was expecting to have some flavorful fish options and maybe some sushi and instead had pizza and hamburgers three times.|Pizza and hamburgers should not be the best options on a fine dining menu.||We had the breakfast buffet every morning at the Tipanier. Another plus was the free usage of paddle boards and kayaks along with readily available bicycle to use daily.||The checkout process was great. We had our luggage picked up thirty minutes before checkout and a boat waiting to take us to the airport.||In closing the Westin Bora Bora is a beautiful destination with great facilities and amazing...
Read moreI sadly stayed at the Westin Bora Bora for 7 days and my experience was horrific. Everyday there felt like a nightmare. Let me explain:||-Upon arrival, we waited 20 minutes for our boat ride to the hotel from the airport, while ALL of the other hotels immediately picked up their guests||-Once arriving to the resort, we were greeted by a 5 minute walk with our luggage to the check-in desk, where we waited another 30 minutes to check-in. Although we did check-in, we had to wait outside (in the heat) for 4 hours for our room to be ready because “the man in your room has not checked out.” It was from 12pm-3pm that we waited. ||-When we finally got into our room, we were exhausted and excited to nap. After 30 minutes of rest, we were called by 4 different outside companies (for our booked excursions) letting us know that the Westin had cancelled them noting that we never arrived on property. This was due to our names being entered into the system incorrectly (even though we gave them our passports upon check-in).||-We hoped that the mess had ended, however, we were very wrong. The next day we learned that the resort lacked in all of the promised services and amenities. For example, to get around the large resort (easily a mile one way of walking from restaurants to the rooms), we were offered bikes. We gladly took the bikes, only to realize that they are communal and that they do not have enough functioning bikes for even 1 bike per room. Basically, you were extremely lucky if you got a bike! ||-Another resort issue we had was with the service. They claim to be a “5-star resort,” but the service is based on the staff’s timeline. If they want to serve lunch, they will, but if they don’t want to, they won’t. It was a hit-or-miss for most experiences here. We had to beg for water at every meal. Asking for the check was a process every time due to the multiple servers that didn’t stick with their tables. ||-To make matters worse, the food was repulsive and extremely overpriced. Although we didn’t expect a high-end meal here, we definitely hoped to at least be able to digest the food served. Honestly, the only meal I enjoyed was my side of French Fries. ||-If you want to leave the resort for another restaurant or to explore the other islands, good luck! They charge you $35 USD to put you on their staff “boat” to get you there. We had a lovely dinner at La Villa Mahana (would HIGHLY recommend) and we got to ride with the entire staff on a jam packed boat taking them home from work. It reeked of body odor and was very uncomfortable. ||-Do not plan on in-room dining. Multiple times we attempted to order food to our room due to the slow service in the restaurants. We were told it was available 24/7, however, when trying to order we were told that “the chef has the weekend off.” When we asked the next day (Monday) if they would have in-room dining available, we were told that the chef was ill and there would be no room service.||-Lock up all valuables. Although we constantly used our do-not-disturb signs, housekeeping entered our room without our permission. We felt that our privacy was violated on numerous occasions. ||-For excursions, book directly through 3rd party. We made the mistake of using the concierge desk and had many issues. For example, we booked a jet ski tour of the island. We showed up and were told to get on one jet ski. Even though we paid for 2 and there were 2 extra jet skis sitting on the dock, we were forced to ride together. ||-Don’t plan on using your in-room pool. We paid extra for a room with a pool, however, they would randomly (without our permission to enter our room) drain it completely. ||||To summarize, we had a really awful experience with the Westin Bora Bora. We believe that that staff, food and overall experience were much lower than the industry standard. We truly hoped for this to be a once in a lifetime vacation for our Honeymoon, but instead it was a living nightmare. I really hope that no one else has to go through a trip like this. Please, pay the extra price to stay at a better resort in Bora Bora- it is...
Read moreThis is our first time in FP and Bora Bora the last stop. It is definitely the best experience of our trip, and largely because of Westin. The service here is superb: we were taken by boat from BOB to the hotel, and greeted by Marie. She is professional and friendly, and explained everything to us in detail. We needed to schedule transportation to the main island, as well as booking the resort restaurants. Justine at concierge helped us book everything. We booked some tours ourselves, but she still called them to help schedule pickup, which was a huge relief to us since we were having communication issues with the tour operators. Then we were offered to stay in a transition room till our over the water bungalow is ready. This is great since we were hot and sweaty from the flight. We took a shower, enjoyed the aC and the lagoon view of the villa. Then we were picked up by a golf cart to our bungalow. This is the best check in process I’ve ever had, as a frequent international traveler both for business and fun. Throughout our stay, the service was consistently professional, polite and friendly. We both felt very well taken care of wherever we went. I highly appreciate the very recently renovated resort. Before coming here, I’ve stayed at some famous resort in Moorea, and I was frustrated by the lack of modern amenities (not enough outlets, no USB charging whatsoever, and slow wifi!). However, Westin has kept the classic Polynesian elements but updated with a modern design and beach villa aesthetics. The colors and the materials used are light colored wood and weaver, which is so bright and refreshing compared to the transitional dark colors. Everything is new: the bungalows, the docks, the restaurants, spas and pools. The wifi is so fast and you can get it on the boat shuttle and on the dock! There are plenty of charging points in the room. The property is huge and we used the free bikes to get around and look around. Both the motu facing and the lagoon facing views are beautiful. The grounds are very well maintained. food: I was a little concerned due to the mixed reviews on Google, but both my husband and I were very pleasantly surprised. There are 3 restaurants on location, and we tried all 3 for dinner. We are omnivores but prefer lighter healthier foods. The menus are very vegetable and seafood forward, and we loved it. Our package included breakfast, lunch and dinner, excluding alcoholic drinks and the fine dining restaurant is 5000XPF per person. We had vegetable appetizers and fish main courses at Tipanier and Varavara. Both had great Motu views at sunset. We kept getting up and taking pictures like other diners. I especially loved the green power bowl from Varavara. It was very refreshing. We did not have any alcohol during in these 2 restaurants, but iced teas and herbal infusions, which were delightful. The last night we had the set menu at Maere, their fine dining restaurant, with a surprise set menu. I’ve had my fair share of fine dining and I really liked the concept of the menu, the french technique and the care of showcasing local ingredients. We also had the wine pairing, and tried some very usual wines such as made locally and from Lebanon. They went with the courses perfectly and it was nice to chat with the sommelier and the staff. All the staff at the restaurants were again so wonderful to us. The breakfast buffet had both hot and cold dishes. I like my English style brekkie with roasted tomatoes, potatoes, vegetables and eggs. My husband loves bread, yogurt and fresh fruits. We were both happy. The omelet station was nice too. No complaints! Activities: we mostly went out during the day for snorkeling and touring, but noticed peolple using the free kayaks and other equipment. We went to the eco center before checking out and had an informative and fun time learning about the good work of saving injured turtles. We watched turtle feeding and a happy turtle practice swimming in the lagoon. I was very happy to choose this resort for our first Bora Bora trip. I hope others will...
