This a wonderful site, located right on the banks of the river Orme, in the heart of the Suisse Normande. The site can cater for everyone from touring tents to motor caravans, with flat, well maintained pitches. Most of which have access to electrical hookups. The husband & wife owners are extremely welcoming, friendly & good English speakers. ||||There are shower/toilet blocks at each end of the site, but as we were visiting very early in the season, only one block was open. These were well maintained & very clean. All hot water is free, including the showers. The toilet area is a little on the small size for both genders and my wife did note that there was no sink in the ladies facility for washing hands. As with most french sites, you do need to provide your own loo roll!||||At reception there is a small shop which is stocked mainly with local jams, ciders & beers. At the time of our stay the shop did not stock simple things like milk, tea, coffee, etc. During the evening you can order fries & pizzas. I can't confirm if they provide restaurant facilities during high season. You can also order bread, croissants, etc for the following morning.||||Next to reception is a play area with volley ball, table tennis and a bouncy castle.||||Across the river you'll find canoe, kayak & boat hire along with three different restaurants.||||There is a weir very close to the northern end of the campsite, which is obviously quite noisy. The wife & I didn't find it a problem, but if you'd prefer a quieter pitch avoid the pitches numbered in the 70's.||||The most entertaining locals had to be the family of Mallard ducks, that live on the river. Every morning they would do a tour of the riverside pitches looking for tit-bits. They are very used to humans and will happily come up quite close, but certainly weren't annoying.||||This is a beautiful site, passionately maintained by the owners, we'd certainly return.||||Some sample travelling times; ||||Mont Saint Michel - 90mins||Le Harve - 90mins||Caen - 1hr||Normandy...

Communication is poor though. We were delayed on the ferry and had an estimated arrival time after 10pm so I sent an email and tried to call many times throughout the evening, but got no reply. As it turns out, we made up a bit of time and got there just before 10pm. If we hadn't, I don't know what would have happened.
The pitches are quite close together, but we had a nice riverside one. Nice and shady under a large tree.
If you want a quiet night on Friday or Saturday, forget it. There was music being played until well past 11pm both nights which was a disappointment. It was a really good band, but still not what I want on a campsite.
The facilities were OK, certainly not special. The lack of decent liquid soap for the toilets seems like a health hazard, and be aware that you will need your own toilet paper at all times for both facility blocks (which they do tell you about in advance).
The shop and bar are really good, and the pastry and bread ordering before 7pm for the next morning is welcome,.as the bakery is quite a walk up the hill in Clecy.
Plenty of things for kids and families to do, both on the site and around...
Read moreWe have just returned from spending 8 nights here and had the best time. We were in a campervan and had pitch 16, which whilst close to one of the toilet blocks, didn't disturb us at all. The owners, Sandie and Ludovic were so welcoming and helpful and couldn't do enough to make our stay a good one,. We came with the intention of making the most of the local area so came armed with paddle boards, climbing gear, and bikes, all of which got used several times. We also did the local via ferrata which was brilliant and cheap at just 6 euros if you provide your own kit. This really is an outdoor enthusiasts paradise. One thing to note, the loos are typically French so you need to take your own loo roll and soap, and be prepared for there not be a toilet seat! But the second toilet block did have seats. All in all, we highly recommend this site and will definitely be back. Shame we ran out of time to do all the things we wanted to - and not having the use the vehicle every day was...
