Hôtel Le Toukal — Hotel in Castellane

The hotel is an a great location, in the centre of the village. Just a few mins walk to the ski slopes. The rooms are fairly basic but clean. The staff were very friendly and we were impressed how hard they worked. The breakfast is served in the bar area downstairs. Croissants and baguette, with orange juice and hot drink. They have a good system to store boots and skis downstairs.||There is a restaurant on the first floor but we preferred to eat out in the village instead although it looked popular.||We would stay again. ||My suggestions for improvement would be to upgrade the towels and to service the room daily - ours was only cleaned on the first day but not again on our four day stay.||Overall a great stay though and perfect for a...

Perfect location at the bottom of the pistes, right in the heart of the resort - and as we had rooms facing away from the street, surprisingly quiet at night. The rooms are very basic but you don't really need much for a ski hotel - the showers however were very old and cracked and just dribbled out. And worst of all, they were luke warm most of the time - not what you need after a day on the pistes! Our room was extremely small and very basic, with hardly any place around the bed and a tiny bathroom. Maintenance level is low - leaking toilets, bad shower head that can hardly be used. You pay for what you get though, so if all you need is a bed to sleep in between two days of skiing - this is definitely a cheap, decent option.
