Le Boischaut — Hotel in Châteauroux

This hotel has obviously changed hands - we stayed there three years ago and had no complaints. On this occasion we were checked in by a surly man who could initially not locate our booking. The room was adequate (just) for an economy hotel. At breakfast no bowls were provided for cereal and we were brusquely told to use the coffee cups instead! A further request for milk proved fruitless, the answer being that there wasn’t any!||Finally, the two young men ( unsure whether they were staff or related to the proprietor) lounging in the lobby hardly created a good impression. Bare feet, sprawled across the banquettes with a selection of snacks and bottled water laid out on the tables. What a reception for arriving guests!||It seems the good reviews for the hotel are from some time ago, presumably when it was under different management. Recent ones are not so positive and my advice would be to avoid it...

Man on reception brusque and unfriendly. Room sparsely furnished, thin walls with clear sound of flushing toilet from next bathroom. At breakfast no bowl for cereal - told to use a coffee cup! No milk available - told only milk was in coffee machine. Tinned fruit salad, meagre collection of jams. Two young men sprawled across banquettes in reception area with bare feet up. Lady on reception rude and unhelpful. We stayed in this hotel a few years ago and could find no fault but it has obviously changed hands. Most good reviews seem to date from time of previous owners. I would advise to avoid this place and...

Booked this hotel months in advance as a stop over for our drive to Sarlat. Received a phone call on the evening before our crossing to Calais to inform us that the rooms we booked were no longer available. We were told that alternative arrangements had been sorted at no additional cost and that the hotel was a few minutes drive away. Hotel was 80 km away and upon arrival we had to pay!! To make matters worse the hotel Le Bpischaut charged us again for our none existent rooms. Booking.com are unable to get an explanation from them as to why our booking was...
