Hotel De La Plage Contis — Hotel in District of Dax

The whole is in a near perfect location but not without its flaws.

Room 5 is definitely to be avoided as it is small and has no balcony. As it is facing the dunes and looks towards the main street, you hear the noise especially in the evening.

The hotel is managed by a young couple. They are very friendly but you can tell that they do not have much experience in how to run a hotel. For example the service at breakfast in the morning was very disorganized so you had to wait for the breakfast items to be refilled. No baguette was served, which is highly unusual in France.

I feel the hotel is too expensive for what it offers. Yes, the interior and gardens are nice, but when the weather is nice, you do not spend any time there. We paid 160 Euro for the small room plus 20 Euro per person for breakfast, which was also too much.

In the end, none of the negative points would have mattered much, if this was a B&B and not a 4-star hotel from which you can...

A big thank you to the manager of Hotel de la Plage, Mathieu, early August 2023 while motorbiking through les Landes & wanting to catch up with friends camping in Contis Plage, we were told a few times accommodation would be impossible but on trying Hotel de la Plage as last resort, Mathieu who told us he was full first, went out of his way & called all the other local Hotels & chambres d’hôtes to no avail, we then went to have a coffee next door to ponder on our next move, Mathieu 10mn later seeing our two bikes still parked next door, went out of his way even more & came to offer us two nights including secure parking for our two bikes at a reasonable price as he managed to move someone in the other building across the road. this type of service is rare & deserve a big mention, "bravo Mathieu "

Ne pas se fier aux photos. Le service est inexistant. Qualité de la chambre médiocre et insonorisée (à côté d’un club) Les propriétaires sont désagréables.

Here is my answer to the comment of the hosts who replied to me 4 months later.

You offered us a free night but you forgot to mention in your answer that it was for another month, knowing that we live in Germany and would never come back several months later for just one night. Please, when you comment, make sure you tell the whole truth. Also, you never mentioned in the description of the room that it was noisy. What a shame to respond to our comment 4 months later just to lie. Next time, it would be smarter...
