Booked this self catering accommodation for the family as we were driving we were going to take shopping with us. As to feed 5 of us for a week would be very expensive. Lucky I messaged the property and asked what facilities they had. They told us they had no cooking facilities whatsoever, even tho it’s self catering. The mrs went and bought a little plug in hob, kettle and toaster just so we could make breakfast. As to eat breakfast at the property would’ve been over 400€ So wasn’t too bad, apart from no work surface to cook on. Had to do it on a bed side table. But we managed. Basically the rooms were just a load of beds with a bathroom. Literally nothing else. Didn’t really bother us too much as we still enjoyed our holiday as the location was perfect. But I’m not a fussy person. If you are expecting more than an en suite bedroom this place isn’t for you. We were pretty limited as it was the holidays there was no where else to stay. Really expensive aswell considering it was just a room. I would’ve give this room a 2 star rating. But after leaving is where the rude staff came into it. ||Before coming to France. I phoned up and paid in full and wasn’t aware of any more extra charges. So on the morning I left, we were driving home and I had a call off the hotel saying I owed over 500€ she said for parking and extra beds but you didn’t have breakfast. So she was quite clear on what it was for. I explained I have a very long drive I will pay tomorrow as soon as I get up. Couple of minutes after the phone call I get texts off the bank someone trying to take over £700 out of my account this made me really angry as I just explained I will pay tomorrow. In all honesty I just wanted to check with booking.com that I really did owe this money. I then phoned and asked y they tried taking the money when I’ve explained I will pay tomorrow. She then got really angry and started shouting telling me people always leave without paying. Well sorry love, but don’t class me as one of them people as I always pay my way. Next day I get home and they call me at like 7am and wake me up after a nightmare drive and ferry’s delayed and start again. I just asked for a break down of the price. 20€ for each extra bed per night. So 2 beds 7 nights. 280€ plus 15€ per day parking so another 105€. So why on earth are you trying to charge me over £700. Be very careful with this place as they will try and take more than you owe. Thief’s that’s what they are. I’ve paid them in full today 408 euros. By bank transfer as there’s no way I was trusting giving them card details over the phone so they can press whatever numbers they want. So never have to hear there moaning whingy voices...
Read moreOur party of 6 stayed here in early March and we're already talking about returning next year! Firstly the location - c. 150m walk downhill to the "cattle truck" or drag lift in the morning, and a sneaky turn off on the way back down in the evening leaves you an even shorter downhill walk! Great access to ski hire, supermarket, bars, swimming pool, etc.||||Chalet host Helen gave us a warm and friendly greeting (after holding dinner for us until 10pm on a Saturday night - thanks Helen!) which set the tone for all the staff who were friendly and helpful throughout the week. Rooms were spacious by ski holiday standards with good storage and decent bathrooms. They're not luxurious but they were clean and well set up. We were on the second floor and while we heard a bit of music from the bar occasionally, it was distant and definitely not sufficient to keep us awake! Ski lockers are small but functional for storing skis and poles but not much else - better to bring your ski boots upstairs to the heat of the room anyway.||||Food was great - well done to chef Johnny - probably the best we've had in a chalet to be honest. Hot options at breakfast were varied and there was a good selection of cereals, yoghurt, fruit, pastries, etc. also. Dinners were tasty with good sized portions and some particularly impressive desserts! As is typical in a chalet, there's no choice of dishes, so possibly not suitable for fussy eaters. The easy access to the Sphere bar underneath was handy - especially for that apres ski drink when you'd dropped your skis in the locker!||||We were a group of mixed abilities and we all loved the ski area. We had a few improvers in our group and the accessibility of green and easy blue runs was fantastic - we had much more variety than in other resorts with lots of options to return by gondola if needed! The more advanced skiers were also satisfied with the level of challenging runs available, so everyone was happy.||||Not much more to say really other than that we had a great week and would highly recommend this accommodation - particularly with such a great Crystal team on...
Read moreIt was only after I booked our holiday that I checked the reviews on here and was rather concerned about what we might be letting ourselves in for. We stayed over Christmas 2015/2016 and were on the 3rd floor. Decent, spacious room and the bathroom had a bath which was a bonus. No problems with noise from the Sphere bar, although other chalet guests commented on hearing the karaoke from the Sphere bar one evening - but no-one seemed to think it was too loud or went on too late and, at the beginning of the week, the chalet supervisor had reassured all the guests that there was a sound limit the bar had to stick to. ||||The location of the chalet is really good - handy for lifts, shops and bars and in a big resort like Alpe D'huez this is a real bonus as it is easy to find accommodation here that it a traipse to everywhere.||||The ski locker room is fine - enough room for skis, what more do people want?! Ski boots are stored in the nice, warm lobby of the hotel which, to me, is preferable to keeping them in a cold ski locker room which often seem to have poor boot warmer.||||Only criticism from me is that the wifi didn't work. Fortunately, the Sphere bar's wifi seemed to be accessible from the chalet.||||I'd happily stay in this...
