Good points: Receptionist and Owner are very good at English and always approachable, so we were able to ask questions without worrying about the language barrier. Bar staff and cleaning staff are polite and smiley. They supplied a European adaptor for our British camping power cable (phew!). Breakfast is easy to order, and available from the bar from 8:00am each morning. It was lovely to have fresh croissants every day without leaving the campsite. Drinks were reasonable price, and nice each evening to go and play cards at a table. The facilities were always clean, and central to the campsite. Dishwashing facilities were plentiful, and washing machine rental was €4 with a free washing tab included. Food nights are ideal when you want decent food – rotisserie chicken for €8, pizza for €7-9. There are burger nights, and crepes available too. Shaded plots that were great in the [very] hot weather A lovely beach that’s close to the campsite
Bad points: Advertised as quiet, but each Wednesday there's DJ Hexagon until midnight that blasts through the campsite. Not ideal when we chose this campsite because it said it was ‘the best place to enjoy quiet and peaceful’. Gate closing times – don’t intend to stay out late if you want to get your car back to your plot. Our fault when we returned at 10:55pm, but meant that we had to carry all our equipment out to the car park (150 yards) the next morning when we packed up. Barrier is supposed to be unlocked at 7:30am, but was still locked on the UK side (there are two keypads for European and UK cars) at 8:10am when we eventually left. A few nights, we had groups of teenagers that decided it would be fun to use the campsite as a location for hide and seek at 2:00am waking everyone up with their squealing and shouting. Plots aren’t massive, and it looks like motorhomes get the better plots over tents. So you might get a plot with a view of the caravan in front of you (the campsite is tiered). WiFi zone by the bar is poor. We struggled to download text-based webpages, so forget video clips or anything demanding a lot of bandwidth. We didn’t opt to upgrade to the paid WiFi...
Read moreWe explored this Little beautiful Campsite randomly on our France/Provence Roadtrip in Early April. I have to say ..i saw a lot of Campsites all Over Europe through the last Decade spending our Vacations Camping, but this Campsite might be one of the Best. Located @ The Ardeche with a small Beach its Perfect for Canoeing. It has spacy Pitches which Are separated through Hedges and Trees. The Sanitary Facilities are almost new and were clean all the Time. The owner ( Sparks fluent French, Englisch, Spanish)is very Kind and takes care of his Clientes. He Runs a small Bar and Snack Point. You can Order Bread for Breakfast. If you want he organises Canoe, Climbing etc Stuff with a local Outdoor Sports Company. You get a Shuttle from The Campsite so that you dont have to Worry about how to get to the Point of Adventure. Prices are Cheap if you Compare them with other Campsites. It only has 3 Stars…in my opinion its worth 5 because you feel treated so well. We come Back in...
Read moreMany thanks to Alain and his team. We’ve just returned from an amazing 2-week camping holiday at Le Clapas. The campsite superbly equipped with great facilities, activities (for the whole family) and varied food options from local producers who come on-site meaning you don’t have to cook all the time. In addition, the site is located right on the Ardèche river along with it’s own private beach which is great for swimming, kayaking, SUPing, fishing etc. and for cooling off in, to escape the dry summer heat. This time around, we stayed in one of their lodge tents which was great and included a double bed… no more blow-up mattresses. The lodge tents are cool, spacious and fully equipped…. and I mean fully equipped, all you need to bring are your clothes, swimming trunks and sunglasses. All-in-all Le Clapas is super chilled, great fun and represents outstanding value for money. Very highly...
