Daughter and granddaughter enjoyed the pools, the bar had a good selection of drinks but with only one member of staff on duty he was rather stretched but he did well. Campsite shop was reasonably well stocked but there, the good points, for us, have to stop. I can't comment on the other facilities on site as we didn't use them but, as many other sites, it was well planted and maintained.||We had a cheerful reception on arrival but when we found our pitch it was occupied by a group of young men from the neighbouring mobile drinking and playing games. They eventually moved but refused to move their car so I had to back in alongside. The chap next door had previously complained about them and said he thought they were going the next day, they did, but it was far from the best start to a holiday. ||Having booked an Ultimate with hot tub I was expecting a decent pitch but we were very disappointed to find a mobile jammed into the narrowest of pitches and the hot tub squeezed into the end between the mobile, decking and the fences, dismal to say the least. Getting the cover off and on was very difficult because of the lack of room around the tub. In the end I resorted to dragging the cover over the balustrade on to the decking.||Due to the way the mobile was sited there was no privacy at all, in fact I think if I had stretched I could have shook hands with next door without either of us leaving the decking. We also kept the kitchen and living area curtains closed to give next door some privacy, if we didn't we would have been looking them in the eye either on their decking or in the hot tub.||And so to the mobile, (T089) it had a good deck, but inside it was far from 'Ultimate'. There was a cupboard door missing in the kitchen, rusty curtain pole in the main bedroom, rusty radiator, damaged mirror, and degrading vanity unit in the main bedroom bathroom. All minor points which should have been fixed before the unit was used. There was also a small crack in the shower base in the same bathroom, given it is early in the season I do wonder what state it will be in by the end of season.||It is a shame we are no longer accompanied to the pitch by a member of staff, they could have explained that the key was needed to switch the lights on rather than us having to eventually work it out. Yes, we could have complained on site but past experience with Marvilla has shown that to...
Read moreA stay at bates motel would have been a better option. This place is an absolute disgrace. We stayed at this so-called “resort” in early September, hoping for a family-friendly vacation, but what we encountered was nothing short of appalling. From the moment we arrived, it was clear that this place is grossly misrepresented. The kids’ club, bar, and snack bar—major draws advertised during the booking—were all inexplicably closed. This left us stranded with no on-site options for food or drinks, making what should have been a relaxing stay incredibly frustrating.||The staff, particularly at reception, were not just unhelpful—they were rude, arrogant, and completely indifferent to the needs of guests. Their lack of English skills only compounded the issue, and the woman working at the poolside restaurant was shockingly unpleasant. Speaking of the restaurant, it doesn’t even open until 6 p.m., and when it finally does, you’ll find that half of the menu is unavailable. Want a decent meal? Prepare to leave the resort and drive elsewhere, because you certainly won’t find it here.||The on-site shop is another joke—open only until 1 p.m., with virtually no stock, and the prices are extortionate. If you’re hoping to pick up basic groceries without leaving the resort, forget about it.||As if all this wasn’t bad enough, there were cats everywhere. This is usually a sign that the place has a serious rodent problem, likely rats and mice. It’s not exactly reassuring when you see stray cats constantly roaming the grounds.||Adding insult to injury, the resort advertised massages as part of their services, but once we arrived, we found out they don’t actually offer them. This kind of false advertising just makes you feel completely misled and cheated.||The most insulting part is how misleading the online photos are. The resort looks nothing like what’s advertised. The reality? A rundown, neglected property that’s barely maintained. The rooms were absolutely filthy, with mold in several areas and layers of dust under the beds. The so-called barbecues were revolting, greasy hot plates that clearly haven’t been cleaned in ages.||This resort doesn’t even come close to the 5-star experience it claims to offer. If I could rate it zero stars, I would.||Do yourself a favor: avoid this place at...

We stayed at Camping La Grande Métairie from 27/08/2025 for 7 nights (5 people), and here’s our honest experience.
Positives:
Check-in was simple and smooth; we handed over our booking confirmation and easily found our lodge.
The mini animal sanctuary was lovely — the goats especially loved being petted.
The outdoor swimming pool was very clean, and we enjoyed using it almost every day when the weather allowed.
The outdoor adventure climbing course was excellent value for money and a lot of fun.
The on-site bakery was amazing — fresh croissants and pain au chocolat were a real treat.
Negatives:
The weather wasn’t great during our stay, and all entertainment is outdoors, so rainy days left little to do.
The lodge area gets very muddy, which made footwear dirty quickly.
The arcades were outdated and had very few games, making indoor activities limited.
The lodge itself was nothing special for the price; some windows were missing vents, and one night we were woken up by a hornet in the bathroom.
The cat: One of the absolute highlights of our stay was the ginger cat near lodge M120. He’s incredibly affectionate, friendly, and just full of personality. He would come to greet you, curl up nearby, and clearly loves attention. If anyone visits, please give him lots of love — I really hope he’s well looked after on site!
Would I return? Possibly, but only if the price was lower. For what we paid during the holidays, the lodge didn’t quite match expectations. That said, we truly enjoyed the pool, adventure course, bakery, and of course the charming ginger cat — he really made the...
