Hotel Du Nord — Hotel in Mâcon

Ideal for a 1-night stay on our way home from Southern France. ||You’ll have to drive about 10 min after taking the exit. Parking space is scarce, especially on Saturdays, but there’s a parking lot at about 5 min walking distance. |Location is super nice near the river. ||Rooms are really small but the bathroom’s nicely refurbished since the first time we came there around 8 years ago. I particularly liked the shower. ||We had difficulty getting checked-in (the hotel uses DIY check-in after 9 or 10 pm) when we arrived at 11 pm. There’s a phone number you can call, but it’s quite hidden in the corner. They should communicate that more clearly. Also, when booking online after 10 pm via a broker (e.g. Agoda) you will always have to call that number, in order to be able to get access to your room via the DIY check-in. I’d recommend they communicate that more clearly either at the entrance or upon making the reservation online. We spent at least 10 min trying to check-in ourselves but in vain. Not easy when you’re extremely tired from a long drive. |We had a minor hygiene issue when we arrived in our room, but I told them the morning after (and showed pics) and they made up for it in the way it should be, so next time we’d be near Mâcon, we would probably stay there again since the beds are quite good, and that’s what...

the location of the hotel is good as it's across the river and near the restaurants and shopping streets. however, i just came at a very bad time when almost the whole of shopping street was under construction ! for that google didn't have an alert and i had to drag my luggage through constructions streets. the hotel of course , had nothing to do with it. you can walk to it via the riverside street which is more enjoyable and it's just 15 minutes walk from the train station.||||the room i got was big enough for one. though fitting 2 luggages for 2 people would be a challenge. the bed is big enough though. it's complete with tea making facilities but there was no coffee provided. ||||it's safe as the main door is locked at night. however there were stair steps from the lobby to the elevator which is annoying if you have a...

Cute hotel along the river Saône. The road is noisy at Friday night. Small but clean rooms, good breakfast. Parking is not very convenient, only one parking lot in front of hotel to unload, then you need to bring the car to a parking area anywhere around the hotel. Do NOT park at the parking area Lamartine above ground on Friday night's since they will tow away your car for a farmers' market on Saturday morning!
