We booked this hotel for its location / walking distance of town centre and river and secure parking at a cost of 14 € a day ) The first receptionist upon arrival was sweet and friendly , directed us verbally to the ‘secured’ parking which was around the corner - we ended up trying to get into the Ibis secure parking thinking it must be shared as these parking areas often are but after 3 attempts with the code , a nice gent from the Ibis appeared telling us that this was not the right parking area. We eventually located the Brithotel parking further down the street which was not very visibly marked at all plus the roller door of which was wide open / not ‘secure’ at all . It remained open all day and all night although we complained . Next day the door appeared closed all day and night and worked on the code so that was ok Third day / door open all day and night - we were told it was broken . We have a valuable car with things stored inside but thankfully everything was ok despite the fact that the town was packed as it was the Fête de la Musique . Second day we were out for most of the day and turned the aircon on upon return late afternoon to cool the room as it was so hot - we rested before going out but the room remained very hot even though it had been on now for a couple of hours . So we complained to the different receptionist and asked to change rooms which she said she couldn’t do as guests were possibly arriving or not later that nightc(?) but she would turn off the aircon and turn it back on again and it would work (?) so the room would be cool when we got back . We got back at around 11 ish to find she hadn’t turned on the aircon and the room was like a furnace . she’d forgotten to as ‘she’d been very busy’ / so we turned it back on and went back down to the bar to a have a drink and wait for room to cool . It didn’t - so finally after going back to the room to check it wasn’t working and much hurrumphing she finally agreed to give us another room ! So finally we got to bed in the early hours after having to repack all our stuff, make several trips to move into new room and get to bed. Breakfast was ok but we’ve had better .
We asked for some compensation for the non parking plus the inconvenience and discomfort with the room . Nice Reception left a note for the Manager to read but as yet we’ve not received any communication We will definitely NOT be staying in a...
Read moreWe arrived late at night to get some sleep before an early start. There was a secured parking for extra cost that we really liked. Staff was friendly, but told us to call to the reception if our neighbours made some noise. We were confused, no one has ever told us this before we got our keys to the room. It turned out that our room was next to the noisy neighbours, that were arguing very loud at 11pm. Just when we tried to go to sleep the neighbours started stomping around in the room and moving furniture or throwing stuff around. We had to call to the reception. They came and the neighbours went quiet for some time and then an hour later it started again. We called to the reception again and they said, if the neighbours won't stop the receptionist will give us another room. And the neighbours didn't stop. We got a new room at 1.15am to get some sleep before we had to wake up at 6am. At least the new room was better and we got some sleep. Also in the first room, the air-conditioner was broken. It started dripping water on the carpet and the room was extremely hot, so there was no way to sleep without it.We had to use a trash-bin to collect the water. But as I said earlier, we got another room with silence and working...
Read moreCompletely unsatisfactory. "Cosy," one of the room size.choices, meant that to get in and out of bed I had to squeeze through a ridiculously narrow space--totally unsafe at night (Room 109); in the shower in order to avoid splashing water on the bathroom floor, one has to stand very near the controls-- and therefore can accidentally brush against them dangerously affecting water temperature. Even though we tried to maintain the "stick close" option, the floor was still a mess; the 11 Euro breakfast meant hard-boiled eggs that did not taste fresh, and more definitely, fruit that absolutely was not fresh--slimy watermelon for example, and other mushy fruit. We have stayed at many moderately priced European hotels, and this chain is definitely off our list. Hotel personnel...
