We first visited this B&B in December 2009 and absolutely loved it. Since then we’ve been back once and booked a third holiday there.||||The location is spectacular. The village of Peyriac de Mer is surrounded by hills, salt marshes and shallow bays, with plenty of walks, runs, cycling trails, riding, fishing, bird-watching and all sorts of water sports. In good weather you can see the snowy peaks of Andorra, and it's about an hour and a half’s drive from the skiing resorts of the Pyrenees. The nearest beach is a half-hour walk or five minutes’ drive away, on the rather mysterious salt lake called Le Doule. The beautiful sandy beaches of the Mediterranean are also a short drive away, as are, in the other direction, the ruined castles of the Cathar region, over towards Carcassonne.||||The region couldn’t be more different from the flesh-pots of the Cote d’Azur. There are few jet-setters around. Nevertheless there are Michelin-starred restaurants not far away and the local Corbieres wine is up there with the best in France.||||The B&B itself is located in the centre of the village, on the top of the hill overlooking the surrounding countryside. There are four rooms, all en-suite, nicely decorated and clean, three of them with private access to the terrace and garden. There is also a well appointed kitchen for everybody's use. ||||The host, Sebastien, is very friendly and helpful. Every morning he cooks a delicious breakfast which is included in the price of the room: French toast, home-made jams, freshly baked cakes, fresh fruit and berries accompany the usual croissants, muesli and yoghurt. In the summer it is served at the communal table on the terrace. Sebastien is really a perfect host, always happy to recommend places to visit, wines to taste, foods to try or just to chat over breakfast or a glass of wine in the evening.||||We love this place and highly recommend it to those who appreciate a quiet time away from the...
Read moreThis was our second visit to Chambres d'Hotes du Moulin, we just had to come back as we enjoyed our first stay so much - and we were not disappointed in any way. The accommodation is spacious, comfortable, smart and spotlessly clean. The hosts , Sebastien and Corinne, are delightful and helpful, and he speaks no less than four languages, including English. ||||Breakfast is a special treat, for which Sebastien usually bakes an apple gateau as well as offering excellent coffee, tea in several varieties, yoghourt and fruit, plus the usual baguettes and other types of bread with a selection of superb home-made conserves. There is a fully equipped communal kitchen in which guests can make hot drinks at any time of day or cook a meal should they wish to.||||Each chambre has its own patio with table and chairs, overlooking the attractive garden and the lovely countryside beyond. The charming little village of Peyriac de Mer has a good bar and restaurant (Les Vieux Tonneaux), a boulangerie, epicerie and stationers, all within walking distance. We also enjoyed a restaurant called "La Garrigue", just out of town, which offers very good food at most reasonable prices.||||The coastline is beautiful and quite rugged, with salt lakes, pink flamingos, lots of other wildlife and plenty of walking opportunities.||||We can recommend this B & B without hesitation....
