My teen daughter and I stayed here one night in order to visit Joan of Arc's birthplace. We initially wanted one of the chateau rooms, but they were taken, so Nadia gave us a cottage at the same price (60 euro instead of 100 euro). I was very impressed by this gesture. We paid an extra 10 euro (5 euro per person) for breakfast which was worth it. Very basic breakfast: fresh bread, jam, yogurt, milk, OJ. We were in the "Daffodil" cottage which has three bedrooms and sleeps 5 comfortably (possibly 6). It was very basic and small/cozy. There were areas of the house that could be cleaner and/or more fresh (many corners with cobwebs and my comforter smelled as if it could use a good wash). The beds and other furniture were very comfortable. No internet in the cottages (walls too thick for signal), but you can sit in the garden/gazebo area and get a signal. Nadia was very nice and helpful (I didn't get a chance to talk to Robert). At the end of our stay, I offered an extra 10 euro since I was very appreciative of her giving us the cottage at a room rate, but she would not take it and said she was satisfied to know we were happy with our stay. Very classy. If you are looking for a well-priced chateau or cottage just down the street from Joan's house,...
Read moreIf you are looking for a way to explore the French countryside, there is no better place to start from than Le Clos Domremy. I came to Domremy-La-Pucelle to see any and all things Joan of Arc, and this was an amazing way to stay while I did so. Robert and Nadia were fantastic, giving me tips and hints on where to find the less known Joan locations, They are very accommodating, bringing breakfast at a time convenient to you.||||The house itself is spectacular, modern conveniences in a 19th century French chateaux. Located just down the street from the house where Joan was born, Domremy is also centrally located in an extremely historical area of France. Verdun, Reims and Dijon are all only a day trip away, and I was able to see all three in the short week I had.||||I would recommend Le Clos Domremy to anyone who asked for a place to stay in France,...
Read moreThis was an unusual opportunity to stay in an intimate, real chateau in the French countryside. Wonderful, peaceful views of the garden and French countryside - even in March. The room was decorated very nicely in traditional french style which was very fitting for the house and was quite spacious. We had asked for the extra bed and it was in its own room attached by a door to our room. The WC was down the hall but it was a private bathroom - only for use by our room. The breakfast was simple but high quality - freshly baked baguette and jam delivered to the room in morning along with juice and yogurt. You could make your own coffee, tea or hot chocolate in your room. The free wifi was nice too. In addition, it was VERY reasonably priced...
